Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.

And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

“ Thirty eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh barnea until we crossed over the Wadi Zered was thirty eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the days in which we came from Kadesh- barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was 38 years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the LORD had vowed to them.

The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty- eight years: until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.

耶和華聞爾言、震怒特甚、矢之曰、昔我以腴壤、誓與其祖宗、斯代之民素惡、必弗能得、

彼尚在曠野、我誓不導之入產乳與蜜之地、斯地列國所羨美。

予怒而誓之、毋俾斯人、享余安息兮。

昔在西乃野、摩西與祭司亞倫曾核其眾、迄今被數之時、無一人在者、蓋耶和華曾有言曰、其人必死於曠野、故靡有孑遺。所尚存者、惟耶孚尼子迦勒、嫩之子約書亞而已。

至巴蘭野、鄰於迦鐵、見摩西亞倫、及以色列會眾、告以諸事、以土產示眾、

來自何烈、道由西耳、至迦鐵巴尼亞、歷程十有一日、

厥後、我儕遵我上帝耶和華命、自何烈遄征、經歷曠野、其境甚廣、其形可畏、道由亞摩哩山、至迦鐵巴尼亞。

當告之云、我指己而誓、爾之所言、我必行之、爾出言怨我、故所見核者、自二十歲以上、俱暴骨於野、我所許之地、爾不得入、惟耶孚尼子迦勒、及嫩之子約書亞、可得而入。爾之幼稚、爾言將被擄者、我必導入、得爾所蔑視之土、惟爾曹必暴骨於野。爾之子女、緣爾行惡、必令其盤旋於曠野、歷四十年、待爾屍骸消滅。爾窺察厥地、歷四十日、今罰爾罪、年數等其日數、必至四十載而後已、使知我棄爾焉。蓋此惡類悖逆乎我、我必降罰、使盡亡於曠野、我耶和華嘗言之矣。○

其中多人為上帝不悅、使屍橫遍野、

爾怒奮揚、余壽俱亡、歲月易過、恍若中心之轉念兮、

當時居於迦鐵、非止一日。

爾使人歸土、語之曰、爾儕世人、當返其本兮、

勿剛愎乃心、如昔民之抵觸我、試我於野、爾祖歷四十載、視我行事、亦嘗試我、故我憾當時之人、曰、厥心常迷、不識余途、我怒誓不許享吾安息、兄弟乎、毋惡於志、而懷不信、背永生之上帝、日月未逝、宜及時相勸勉、恐迷於罪、而剛愎自用、若吾毅然鞏固、始終如一、則獲基督所賜之福、論及經語、如今日爾願聽從我言、勿剛愎乃心、如昔民之抵觸我、聽而抵觸者誰、非從摩西出埃及之眾乎、上帝於四十載中憾誰、非犯罪而暴骨於野者乎、上帝誓之、不許享其安息者誰、非不信之徒乎、由是觀之、彼不信、故不得享安息也、

維爾知之素、欲俾爾憶之、昔主救民出埃及地、後滅諸不信者、

耶和華發誓、俾民敗亡於野兮、

出埃及之有眾、自二十歲以上者、既不竭忠從我、故所誓亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各之地必不能得、
