Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.

And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

“ Thirty eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh barnea until we crossed over the Wadi Zered was thirty eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the days in which we came from Kadesh- barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was 38 years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the LORD had vowed to them.

The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty- eight years: until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.

「耶和華聽見你們的怨言，就發怒，起誓說：『這邪惡世代的人，一個也不得看見我起誓要賜給你們列祖的美地；

並且我在曠野向他們起誓，必不領他們進入我所賜的流奶與蜜之地，就是全地中最美好之地；

所以，我在怒中起誓：「他們斷不可進入我的安息！」

這些被數的人中，沒有一個是摩西和亞倫祭司先前在西奈曠野所數的以色列人，因為耶和華論到他們說：「他們必死在曠野。」所以，除了耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞以外，他們一個也沒有存留。

他們來到巴蘭曠野的加低斯，摩西、亞倫，以及以色列全會眾那裏，向他們和全會眾報告，又把那地的果子給他們看。

從何烈山經過西珥山到加低斯‧巴尼亚要十一天的路程。

「我們照着耶和華－我們上帝所吩咐的，從何烈山起行，經過你們所看見那一切大而可怕的曠野，往亞摩利人的山區去，到了加低斯‧巴尼亞。

你要告訴他們，耶和華說：『我指着我的永生起誓，我必照你們在我耳中所說的待你們。你們的屍體必倒在這曠野中。你們中間被數點，凡二十歲以上向我發怨言的，必不得進我所起誓應許給你們居住的那地。惟有耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞才能進去。你們的孩子，就是你們說要成為擄物的，我必領他們進去，他們就得知你們所厭棄的那地。至於你們，你們的屍體必倒在這曠野中；你們的兒女必在曠野遊牧四十年，擔當你們不信的罪，直到你們的屍體在曠野消滅為止。按你們窺探那地的四十日，一年抵一日，你們要擔當你們的罪孽四十年，你們就知道我疏遠你們了。』我－耶和華說過，我必這樣對待這一切聚集對抗我的邪惡會眾。他們必在這曠野中消滅，死在這裏。」

但他們中間多半是上帝不喜歡的人，所以倒斃在曠野裏了。

我們經過的日子，都在你震怒之下，我們度盡的年歲，好像一聲嘆息。

你們照着所停留的日子，在加低斯停留了許多日子。」

你使人歸於塵土，說：「世人哪，你們要歸回。」

就不可硬着心，像在背叛之時，就如在曠野受試探之日。在那裏，你們的祖宗試探我，並且觀看我的作為，有四十年之久。所以，我厭煩那世代，說：他們的心常常迷糊，竟不知道我的道路！我在怒中起誓：他們斷不可進入我的安息！」弟兄們，你們要謹慎，免得你們中間有人存着邪惡不信的心，離棄了永生的上帝。總要趁着還有今日，天天彼此相勸，免得你們中間有人被罪迷惑，心腸剛硬了。只要我們將起初確實的信心堅持到底，就在基督裏有份了。經上說：「今日，你們若聽他的話，就不可硬着心，像在背叛之時。」聽見他而又背叛他的是誰呢？豈不是跟着摩西從埃及出來的眾人嗎？上帝向誰發怒四十年之久呢？豈不是那些犯罪而陳屍在曠野的人嗎？他向誰起誓，不容他們進入他的安息呢？豈不是向那些不信從的人嗎？這樣看來，他們不能進入安息是因為不信的緣故了。

這一切的事，你們雖然知道，我卻仍要提醒你們：從前主只一次就救了他的百姓出埃及地，後來卻把那些不信的滅絕了。

所以他向他們起誓，必叫他們倒在曠野，

『凡從埃及上來二十歲以上的人，斷不得看見我對亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓應許之地，因為他們沒有專心跟從我；
