Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.

And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

“ Thirty eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh barnea until we crossed over the Wadi Zered was thirty eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the days in which we came from Kadesh- barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the LORD had vowed to them.

The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty- eight years: until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.

“耶和华听见你们的怨言，就发怒，起誓说：‘这邪恶世代的人，一个也不得看见我起誓要赐给你们列祖的美地；

并且我在旷野向他们起誓，必不领他们进入我所赐的流奶与蜜之地，就是全地中最美好之地；

所以，我在怒中起誓：“他们断不可进入我的安息！”

这些被数的人中，没有一个是摩西和亚伦祭司先前在西奈旷野所数的以色列人，因为耶和华论到他们说：“他们必死在旷野。”所以，除了耶孚尼的儿子迦勒和嫩的儿子约书亚以外，他们一个也没有存留。

他们来到巴兰旷野的加低斯，摩西、亚伦，以及以色列全会众那里，向他们和全会众报告，又把那地的果子给他们看。

从何烈山经过西珥山到加低斯‧巴尼亚要十一天的路程。

“我们照着耶和华—我们神所吩咐的，从何烈山起行，经过你们所看见那一切大而可怕的旷野，往亚摩利人的山区去，到了加低斯‧巴尼亚。

你要告诉他们，耶和华说：‘我指着我的永生起誓，我必照你们在我耳中所说的待你们。你们的尸体必倒在这旷野中。你们中间被数点，凡二十岁以上向我发怨言的，必不得进我所起誓应许给你们居住的那地。惟有耶孚尼的儿子迦勒和嫩的儿子约书亚才能进去。你们的孩子，就是你们说要成为掳物的，我必领他们进去，他们就得知你们所厌弃的那地。至于你们，你们的尸体必倒在这旷野中；你们的儿女必在旷野游牧四十年，担当你们不信的罪，直到你们的尸体在旷野消灭为止。按你们窥探那地的四十日，一年抵一日，你们要担当你们的罪孽四十年，你们就知道我疏远你们了。’我—耶和华说过，我必这样对待这一切聚集对抗我的邪恶会众。他们必在这旷野中消灭，死在这里。”

但他们中间多半是神不喜欢的人，所以倒毙在旷野里了。

我们经过的日子，都在你震怒之下，我们度尽的年岁，好像一声叹息。

你们照着所停留的日子，在加低斯停留了许多日子。”

你使人归于尘土，说：“世人哪，你们要归回。”

就不可硬着心，像在背叛之时，就如在旷野受试探之日。在那里，你们的祖宗试探我，并且观看我的作为，有四十年之久。所以，我厌烦那世代，说：他们的心常常迷糊，竟不知道我的道路！我在怒中起誓：他们断不可进入我的安息！”弟兄们，你们要谨慎，免得你们中间有人存着邪恶不信的心，离弃了永生的神。总要趁着还有今日，天天彼此相劝，免得你们中间有人被罪迷惑，心肠刚硬了。只要我们将起初确实的信心坚持到底，就在基督里有份了。经上说：“今日，你们若听他的话，就不可硬着心，像在背叛之时。”听见他而又背叛他的是谁呢？岂不是跟着摩西从埃及出来的众人吗？神向谁发怒四十年之久呢？岂不是那些犯罪而陈尸在旷野的人吗？他向谁起誓，不容他们进入他的安息呢？岂不是向那些不信从的人吗？这样看来，他们不能进入安息是因为不信的缘故了。

这一切的事，你们虽然知道，我却仍要提醒你们：从前主只一次就救了他的百姓出埃及地，后来却把那些不信的灭绝了。

所以他向他们起誓，必叫他们倒在旷野，

‘凡从埃及上来二十岁以上的人，断不得看见我对亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓应许之地，因为他们没有专心跟从我；
