And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.

And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

“ Thirty eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh barnea until we crossed over the Wadi Zered was thirty eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty- eight years: until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.

And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,

Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given[ them], flowing with milk and honey, which[ is] the glory of all lands;

Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.

And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.

Say unto them,[ As truly as] I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,Doubtless ye shall not come into the land,[ concerning] which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.But[ as for] you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.After the number of the days in which ye searched the land,[ even] forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities,[ even] forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale[ that is told].

So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode[ there].

Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.

Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in[ their] heart; and they have not known my ways.So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.But with whom was he grieved forty years?[ was it] not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:
