Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.

And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

“ Thirty eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh barnea until we crossed over the Wadi Zered was thirty eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the LORD had vowed to them.

The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty- eight years: until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.

主聞爾言、震怒而誓曰、斯惡劣之世代、其中必無一人得見我誓賜爾祖之美地、

我亦在曠野為之發誓、必不導之入我所賜之之地、即流乳與蜜之地、其地在列國中最佳美、

爾當告之曰、主云、我指己永生而誓、我所聞爾之言、必循之以待爾、爾曹怨我、故凡爾見數者、自二十歲以上、屍骸俱仆於曠野、必不得入我所誓賜爾以居之地、惟耶孚尼子迦勒、與嫩之子約書亞、可得而入、爾之幼稚、爾言將被擄者、我必導之入、使彼得識爾所藐視之地、爾曹屍骸、必仆於曠野、爾曹子嗣、必負爾悖逆之罪、在曠野飄流歷四十年、直待爾俱亡成屍、爾窺探其地、歷四十日、爾因罪受罰、一年抵一日、歷四十年、使爾知我之棄爾也、此惡類之會眾悖逆我、我必使之在曠野消滅死亡、我待之必如此、此我耶和華所言、

但彼眾多半不為天主所悅、其屍偃仆於野、

因主震怒、致我儕日月速然而逝、我儕度年、疾如轉念、

其後爾曹居於迦叠、居彼多日、

主使人歸入塵土、即命之曰、世人乎、爾曹當歸、

如昔民之激主怒、即在曠野試主之時、其時爾列祖歷四十年、觀我之作為、猶試我探我、故我怒斯代之人、曰、其心常迷、不識我道、乃怒而誓曰、必不許其享享原文作入下同我安息、兄弟乎、爾當謹慎、恐爾中有人、懷不信之惡心、違背永生天主、故爾當乘尚有今日、日相勸勉、免爾中有人迷於罪、而剛愎其心、我儕若持守始初之信、鞏固至終、則於基督有分矣、經云、爾今日若聽主之言、則勿剛愎爾心、如在激主怒之時、其時聞而激怒者誰、非從摩西出伊及之眾乎、天主於四十年間怒誰、非犯罪而屍仆於曠野者乎、天主誓之、不許享其安息者誰、非違背違背或作不信之人乎、由是觀之、彼不享其安息、乃因不信之故、

爾雖素知之、我仍欲使爾記憶、昔主救民出伊及、後滅諸不信者、

於是主舉手而誓、必使之仆亡曠野、

出伊及之眾、自二十歲以上者、因不忠心從我、必不得見我誓賜亞伯拉罕以撒雅各之地、
