自離迦叠巴尼亞時、至渡撒烈溪時、歷三十有八年、於斯時也、斯代之諸武士、俱死於營中、循主向彼所誓之言、

Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.

And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

“ Thirty eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh barnea until we crossed over the Wadi Zered was thirty eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the days in which we came from Kadesh- barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was 38 years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the LORD had vowed to them.

The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty- eight years: until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.

“耶和華聽見了你們說話的聲音，就惱怒，起誓說：‘這個邪惡世代的人，連一個也不能看見我起誓應許賜給他們列祖的美地；

我在曠野也曾經向他們舉手起誓，必不領他們到我賜給他們的流奶與蜜之地，就是萬邦中最榮美的地。

所以我在忿怒中起誓，說：“他們絕不可進入我的安息。”

這些人中間，沒有一個是摩西和亞倫祭司從前在西奈曠野數點以色列人的時候，數點過的。因為耶和華論到他們曾經說過：“他們必死在曠野。”所以除了耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞以外，連一個也沒有剩下。

他們來到了巴蘭曠野的加低斯，見摩西、亞倫和以色列的全體會眾，向摩西、亞倫及全體會眾報告，又把那地的果子給他們看。

從何烈山經過西珥山的路，到達加低斯．巴尼亞，共有十一天的路程。

“我們照著耶和華我們的神吩咐我們的，從何烈山起行，走過你們所見那大而可怕的曠野，沿著到亞摩利人山地的路而行；後來到了加低斯．巴尼亞。

你要對他們說：‘耶和華說，我指著我的永生起誓，我必照著你們所說給我聽的，對待你們：你們的屍體必倒在這曠野；你們中間被數點過的，就是按著你們的數目，從二十歲及以上，向我發過怨言的，都不得進入我起誓給你們居住的那地；只有耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞才可以進去。但是你們的孩子，就是你們所說他們必被擄掠的，我要把他們領進去，他們必得著你們厭棄的那地。至於你們，你們的屍體必倒在這曠野。你們的兒女必在曠野飄流四十年，擔當你們背信之罪，直到你們的屍體在曠野都滅盡了。照著你們窺探那地的日數共四十天，一天算一年，你們要擔當罪孽四十年，你們就知道我為甚麼與你們作對。’我耶和華已經說了，我必要這樣對待這聚集反抗我的惡會眾；他們要在這曠野滅盡，在這裡死亡。”

但他們大多數的人，都得不到神的喜悅，因此他們都死在曠野。

我們一生的日子都在你的震怒中消逝，我們度盡的年歲好像一聲歎息。

於是你們在加低斯住了許多日子。”

你使人歸回塵土，說：“世人哪！你們要歸回塵土。”

就不要硬著心，好像在曠野惹他發怒、試探他的日子一樣；在那裡，你們的祖先以試驗來試探我，觀看我的作為有四十年之久。所以，我向那個世代的人發怒，說：‘他們心裡常常迷誤，不認識我的道路。’我就在烈怒中起誓，說：‘他們絕不可進入我的安息。’”弟兄們，你們要小心，免得你們中間有人存著邪惡、不信的心，以致離棄了永活的神；趁著還有叫作“今天”的時候，總要天天互相勸勉，免得你們中間有人受了罪惡的誘惑，心裡就剛硬了。如果我們把起初的信念堅持到底，就是有分於基督的人了。經上說：“如果你們今天聽從他的聲音，就不要硬著心，像惹他發怒的時候一樣。”那時，聽了他的話而惹他發怒的是誰呢？不就是摩西從埃及領出來的那些人嗎？四十年之久，神向誰發怒呢？不就是向那些犯了罪陳屍曠野的人嗎？他又向誰起誓說，他們絕對不可以進入他的安息呢？不就是向那些不順從的人嗎？這樣看來，他們不能進入安息，是因為不信的緣故。

雖然這一切事情你們都早已知道，我仍然要提醒你們：從前主從埃及地把人民救出來，跟著就把那些不信的人除滅了。

所以他對他們起誓，必使他們倒在曠野，

‘從埃及上來二十歲及以上的人，必不得看見我對亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓應許的地，因為他們沒有專心跟從我。
