自離迦叠巴尼亞時、至渡撒烈溪時、歷三十有八年、於斯時也、斯代之諸武士、俱死於營中、循主向彼所誓之言、

Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.

And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

“ Thirty eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh barnea until we crossed over the Wadi Zered was thirty eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the days in which we came from Kadesh- barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was 38 years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the LORD had vowed to them.

The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty- eight years: until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.

“你们的埋怨惹耶和华发怒，祂起誓说，‘这邪恶的一代没有一人能看见我起誓要赐给他们祖先的佳美之地，

我在旷野曾向他们发誓，不带他们进入我赐给他们的那奶蜜之乡，那世上最佳美的地方，

因此我在怒中起誓说，‘他们绝不可进入我的安息！’”

其中没有一个是摩西和祭司亚伦从前在西奈旷野登记的人。因为耶和华说过，那批人都要死在旷野。果然，除了耶孚尼的儿子迦勒和嫩的儿子约书亚以外，上次登记的人无一存活。

他们来到巴兰旷野的加低斯向摩西、亚伦和以色列全体会众汇报，把当地的果子给大家看。

从何烈山取道西珥山到加低斯·巴尼亚，需十一天。

“我们照我们上帝耶和华的吩咐，从何烈山出发，走过你们所见的那大而可怕的旷野，前往亚摩利山区，来到加低斯·巴尼亚。

你们去把我的话告诉他们，‘以色列人啊，我凭我的永恒起誓，我必照你们所说的对待你们。你们当中凡登记在册、二十岁以上向我发怨言的人，必倒毙在这旷野中，除耶孚尼的儿子迦勒和嫩的儿子约书亚之外，你们无人能进入我起誓应许的那片土地。你们说你们的儿女会被掳去，但我要把他们带到那里，让他们享有那片你们厌弃的土地。而你们必死在这旷野。你们的儿女要在旷野飘泊四十年，为你们的不忠而受苦，直到你们都死在旷野。你们打探了那地方四十天，你们要为自己的罪受苦四十年，一年顶一天。那时，你们就知道与我为敌的后果。’我耶和华已经说过。我必使你们这群与我为敌的恶人死在旷野，无一幸免。”

尽管如此，他们当中大多数人不讨上帝的喜悦，倒毙在旷野。

我们活在你的烈怒之下，一生就像一声叹息飞逝而去。

因此，你们在加低斯住了很久。

你叫人归回尘土，说：“世人啊，归回尘土吧。”

不可心里顽固，像从前在旷野试探祂、悖逆祂一样。当时，你们的祖先试我、探我，观看我的作为达四十年之久。所以，我向那世代的人发怒，说，‘他们总是执迷不悟，不认识我的道路。’我就在愤怒中起誓说，‘他们绝不可进入我的安息。’”弟兄姊妹，要谨慎，免得你们当中有人心存恶念，不肯相信，背弃了永活的上帝。趁着还有今日，要天天互相劝勉，免得有人被罪迷惑，心里变得刚硬。如果我们将起初的信念坚持到底，便在基督里有份了。圣经上说：“你们今日若听见祂的声音，不可像从前那样硬着心悖逆祂。”听见祂的声音却又悖逆祂的是谁呢？不就是摩西从埃及领出来的那些人吗？四十年之久惹上帝发怒的是谁呢？不就是那些犯罪作恶并倒毙在旷野的人吗？上帝起誓不准谁进入祂的安息呢？不就是那些不肯信从的人吗？可见，他们不能进入上帝的安息是因为不信的缘故。

以下的事情，你们虽然都知道，但我还要再提醒你们：从前上帝把祂的子民从埃及救出来，后来把其中不信的人灭绝了。

因此，祂举手起誓要使他们倒毙在旷野，

‘从埃及出来、二十岁以上的人都看不到我起誓要赐给亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各的土地，因为他们没有全心全意地跟从我；
