爾曹至爾上帝耶和華所錫之地、彼民所為可惡之事、爾勿則效。

爾既至主爾天主所賜爾之地、毋傚彼諸民所為可惡之事、

When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.

You will enter the land the Lord your God is giving you. When you do, don’t copy the practices of the nations there. The Lord hates those practices.

“ When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations.

“ When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there.

“ When you enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations.

“ When the LORD your God annihilates the nations before you, which you are entering to take possession of, and you drive them out and live in their land,be careful not to be ensnared by their ways after they have been destroyed before you. Do not inquire about their gods, asking,‘ How did these nations worship their gods? I’ll also do the same.’You must not do the same to the LORD your God, because they practice every detestable act, which the LORD hates, for their gods. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.

But you are to keep my statutes and ordinances. You must not commit any of these detestable acts— not the native or the alien who resides among you.For the people who were in the land prior to you have committed all these detestable acts, and the land has become defiled.

You must keep my instruction to not do any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you, so that you do not defile yourselves by them; I am the LORD your God.”
