The king must keep the scroll close to him at all times. He must read it all the days of his life. Then he can learn to have respect for the Lord his God. He can carefully obey all the words of this law and these rules.

And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them,

Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies.I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts.

You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,

and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

Remember the day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, when he said to me,“ Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn to revere me as long as they live in the land and may teach them to their children.”

These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
