It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees

The king must keep the scroll close to him at all times. He must read it all the days of his life. Then he can learn to have respect for the Lord his God. He can carefully obey all the words of this law and these rules.

「這律法」書不可離開你的口；你要晝夜沉思，好使你按照書上所寫的一切話謹慎遵行；因為這樣、你所行的路就會順利，這樣、你就會亨通。

他所喜愛的、是永恆主的律法，他晝夜所思想的、也是主的律法。

我多麼愛你的律法呀！那是我終日不斷默想的。你的誡命使我比仇敵有智慧，因為它時時在我心裏。我比我所有的教師都通達；因為你的法度是我所默想的。我比老年人明理，因為你的訓令我恪守着。

你們探索經典，因為以為在其中可以得到永生；而那為我作見證的正是這些經；

也知道你從幼年時就明白了聖典，就是能使你憑着信仰基督耶穌而有智慧、以至於得救的。每一部受上帝靈感的經典、對於教導、對於指責、對於規正、對於訓練人正義，全都有益，叫屬上帝的人完備，完全準備着、可行各樣的善事。

『所以你們要把我這些話放在心裏，存在意念中；要繫在手上做記號；這些話要在你們額上做綁額帶。

你在何烈山站在永恆主你的上帝面前那一天，永恆主怎樣對我說：「你要召集人民，我要叫他們聽我的話，使他們儘在地上活着的日子可以學習敬畏我，也可以教訓他們的兒女。

我今日所吩咐你的這些話、你都要牢記在心：用來磨鍊你的兒女；無論你是坐在家裏，是行在路上，是躺下、是起來，都要講論。你要把這些話繫在手上做記號；這些話要在你額上做綁額帶。你要給寫在你房屋的門柱上和大門上。
