王之嬪妃、不可加多、恐心昏迷、亦不得廣積金銀。

He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

The king must not have many wives. If he does, they will lead him astray. He must not store up large amounts of silver and gold.

And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.

告之曰、以色列王所羅門、娶於異邦而犯罪、昔所羅門在列國中、無王可比、上帝愛之、使治以色列、然異邦之女、陷之於罪。

若是人可離父母、膠漆其妻、成為一體。

所羅門王、除法老女之外、內寵甚多、皆異族之女、即屬於摩押、亞捫、以東、西頓、赫人者、論及異族之人、耶和華曾諭以色列族云、爾與彼婚姻勿相通、恐其誘爾心從他上帝、然所羅門戀愛此女、娶列王之公主、充其後宮、凡七百人、外此又有嬪妃三百、咸蠱惑其心。所羅門年既老、諸妃迷眩其衷懷、使不一心誠恪、從其上帝耶和華、效父大闢所為、反從事他上帝、

願闢虛誕、或貧或富、匪我思存、惟求足食而已。恐富而侈、不崇事耶和華、或貧而盜、妄發誓言。

爾即財貨豐饒、勿以為樂、況虐人奪人、更不可以此浮財自恃、

故曰、人離父母、膠漆其妻、成為一體、此經汝豈未讀乎、

大闢在希伯崙生子、長暗嫩、乃耶斯烈地之女亞希暖所出。次基利押、乃曾適拿八加密地之女亞庇該所出。三押沙龍、乃基述王達買女馬迦所出。四亞多尼雅、乃哈及所出。五示法提亞、乃亞庇達所出。六以特念、乃大闢妻以客拉所出、此六子者俱生於希伯崙。

遂謂眾曰、慎戒勿貪、蓋人之生、不在所蓄之贏餘也、○

當諭此世之富者、心勿傲、無定之財勿恃、惟賴永生上帝、洪賜我眾、百物以享之、

上帝之神、綽然有餘、猶且祗造一男一女、彼造一男一女、誠何故哉、亦欲使所生之子、克敬克虔耳、故當守爾心、幼時所娶之妻、勿復遺棄、

苟圖富有、陷誘惑、罹羅網、溺於無理有害之欲、終必沉淪、

耶穌謂門徒曰、我誠告爾、富人入天國、難矣哉、我又語汝、駝穿針孔、較富人入上帝國、尤易也、

播於棘中者、猶人聽道、此世之憧擾、貨財之迷惑、蔽其道而不實、

勿積財於地蠹食銹壞、盜穴而竊之處、惟積財於天、蠹不食、銹不壞、盜不穴不竊之處、

所羅門王所飲之杯、悉以金製、利巴嫩林宅中、所有器皿、皆係兼金、當所羅門時、人弗以銀為貴重。
