He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

The king must not have many wives. If he does, they will lead him astray. He must not store up large amounts of silver and gold.

And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.

The king must not take many wives for himself, because they will turn his heart away from the Lord. And he must not accumulate large amounts of wealth in silver and gold for himself.

以色列王所罗门不也在这样的事上犯罪吗？在许多国家中并没有一位王像他，蒙他上帝喜爱，上帝立他作王治理全以色列。然而，连他也被外邦女子引诱犯罪。

因此，人要离开父母，与妻子结合，二人成为一体。

所罗门王在法老的女儿之外，又宠爱许多外邦女子，就是摩押女子、亚扪女子、以东女子、西顿女子、赫人女子。论到这些国的人，耶和华曾吩咐以色列人说：“你们不可跟他们通婚，他们也不可跟你们在一起，因为他们一定会诱惑你们的心去随从他们的神明。”所罗门却为了爱，紧紧跟从他们。所罗门娶七百个公主，三百个妃嫔。这些妻妾诱惑他的心。所罗门年老的时候，他的妻妾诱惑他的心去随从别神，不像他父亲大卫以纯正的心顺服耶和华—他的上帝。

求你使虚假和谎言远离我，使我不贫穷也不富足，赐给我需用的饮食。免得我饱足了，就不认你，说：“耶和华是谁呢？”又恐怕我贫穷就偷窃，以致亵渎我上帝的名。

不要仗势欺人，也不要因抢夺而骄傲；若财宝加增，不要放在心上。

大卫在希伯仑生了几个儿子：长子暗嫩是耶斯列人亚希暖所生的；次子基利押是作过迦密人拿八的妻子亚比该所生的；三子押沙龙是基述王达买的女儿玛迦所生的；四子亚多尼雅是哈及所生的；五子示法提雅是亚比她所生的；六子以特念是大卫的妻子以格拉所生的。大卫这六个儿子都是在希伯仑生的。

于是他对他们说：“你们要谨慎自守，躲避一切的贪心，因为人的生命不在于家道丰富。”

至于那些今世富足的人，你要嘱咐他们不要自高，也不要倚赖靠不住的钱财；要倚靠那厚赐万物给我们享受的上帝。

一个人如果还剩下一点灵性，他不会这么做。这人在寻找什么呢？上帝的后裔！当谨守你们的灵性，谁也不可背弃年轻时所娶的妻。

但那些想要发财的人就陷在诱惑、罗网和许多无知有害的欲望中，使人沉沦，以致败坏和灭亡。

耶稣对门徒说：“我实在告诉你们，财主进天国是难的。我再告诉你们，骆驼穿过针眼比财主进上帝的国还容易呢！”

撒在荆棘里的，就是人听了道，后来有世上的忧虑、钱财的迷惑把道挤住了，结不出果实。

“不要为自己在地上积蓄财宝；地上有虫子咬，能锈坏，也有贼挖洞来偷。要在天上积蓄财宝；天上没有虫子咬，不会锈坏，也没有贼挖洞来偷。

所罗门王一切的饮器都是金的，黎巴嫩林宫里所有的器皿都是纯金的。在所罗门的日子，银子算不了什么。
