你总要立耶和华你神所拣选的人为王。必从你弟兄中立一人；不可立你弟兄以外的人为王。

你一定要立耶和华—你上帝所拣选的人为你的王。要从你弟兄中立一人为你的王，不可立你弟兄之外的外邦人治理你。

be sure to appoint over you a king the Lord your God chooses. He must be from among your fellow Israelites. Do not place a foreigner over you, one who is not an Israelite.

When that happens, make sure you appoint over yourselves a king the Lord your God chooses. He must be from among your own people. Don’t appoint over yourselves someone from another country. Don’t choose anyone who isn’t from one of the tribes of Israel.

撒母耳告民曰、爾觀耶和華所簡者、億兆之中、無能比儗。民歡呼曰、願王千歲。

耶和華賜我眾子、在眾子中、簡所羅門奉命踐以色列國位。

勿作惡、以致足跣口渴。然爾曰、毋庸勸我、崇他上帝、弗能已焉。

遂召之至、其容赤色、雙眸炯然、丰采甚都。耶和華曰、斯人是也。速沐以膏。撒母耳取角中之膏以沐之、兄弟咸睹、自是以後、耶和華之神感大闢、撒母耳啟行、歸於拉馬。○

列王立、群伯集、耶和華是違、受膏者是逆、曰、

昔掃羅為王、治理我儕、爾導以色列族出入、耶和華有應許曰、爾必牧以色列族、為我民之長。

掃羅未至、先一日耶和華默示撒母耳曰、明日斯時、我遣便雅憫人就爾、爾必沐以膏、使為以色列族長、拯我民於非利士人手、蓋民呼籲於上、而我垂顧之。撒母耳見掃羅至時、耶和華諭之曰、我所言之人、今在爾前、彼必治理我民。

曰我沐以膏、立之為王、治理郇山、即我聖岡。

嗣後至希伯崙、欲使掃羅國祚歸於大闢、循耶和華命、有群眾預備以戰、其數如左。
