For six days eat unleavened bread and on the seventh day hold an assembly to the Lord your God and do no work.

For seven days the bread you eat must be made without yeast. On the first day of the festival, remove every trace of yeast from your homes. Anyone who eats bread made with yeast during the seven days of the festival will be cut off from the community of Israel.On the first day of the festival and again on the seventh day, all the people must observe an official day for holy assembly. No work of any kind may be done on these days except in the preparation of food.

For seven days you must present special gifts to the Lord. The eighth day is another holy day on which you present your special gifts to the Lord. This will be a solemn occasion, and no ordinary work may be done that day.

On the following day— the fifteenth day of the month— a joyous, seven day festival will begin, but no bread made with yeast may be eaten.The first day of the festival will be an official day for holy assembly, and no ordinary work may be done on that day.As a special gift you must present a burnt offering to the Lord— two young bulls, one ram, and seven one year old male lambs, all with no defects.

Announce a time of fasting; call the people together for a solemn meeting. Bring the leaders and all the people of the land into the Temple of the Lord your God, and cry out to him there.

On the eighth day they had a closing ceremony, for they had celebrated the dedication of the altar for seven days and the Festival of Shelters for seven days.

Ezra read from the Book of the Law of God on each of the seven days of the festival. Then on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly, as was required by law.
