If anyone is poor among your fellow Israelites in any of the towns of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward them.

“在耶和华你神所赐你的地上，无论哪一座城里，你弟兄中若有一个穷人，你不可忍着心、揝着手不帮补你穷乏的弟兄。

“在耶和华—你上帝所赐给你的地上，任何一座城里，你弟兄中若有一个贫穷人，你不可硬着心，袖手不帮助你贫穷的弟兄。

“在耶和华—你神所赐给你的地上，任何一座城里，你弟兄中若有一个贫穷人，你不可硬着心，袖手不帮助你贫穷的弟兄。

“在进入你们的上帝耶和华将要赐给你们的土地后，如果你们居住的城中有贫穷的同胞，你们不可硬着心肠拒施援手。

“但是在耶和华你的神赐给你的地上，无论哪一座城里，在你中间如果有一个穷人，又是你的兄弟，你对这穷苦的兄弟不可硬着心肠，也不可袖手不理。

「在進入你們的上帝耶和華將要賜給你們的土地後，如果你們居住的城中有貧窮的同胞，你們不可硬著心腸拒施援手。

“但是在耶和華你的神賜給你的地上，無論哪一座城裡，在你中間如果有一個窮人，又是你的兄弟，你對這窮苦的兄弟不可硬著心腸，也不可袖手不理。

『但是在永恆主你的上帝所賜給你的地上、無論在哪一個城內、你哪一個族弟兄中若有一個窮人在你中間，你對窮的族弟兄總不可忍着心、而揝着手。

爾上帝耶和華賜爾之地、無論何邑、有窮乏之昆弟、毋頑爾心、握手而不之濟、

爾上帝耶和華所賜之地、如邑有同儕貧乏、毋剛愎乃心、毋固執爾手、

主爾天主所賜爾之地、無論何邑爾兄弟中有人窮乏、毋剛愎爾心、毋固執爾手而不濟之、

Suppose someone is poor among you. And suppose they live in one of the towns in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Then don’t be mean to them. They are poor. So don’t hold back money from them.

“ If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother,

“ But if there are any poor Israelites in your towns when you arrive in the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hard hearted or tightfisted toward them.

“ If there is a poor person among you, one of your brothers within any of your city gates in the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother.

“ If there is a poor person among you, one of your brothers, in any of your towns in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brother;

“ If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother,

If there be with thee a poor man, one of thy brethren, within any of thy gates in thy land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heart, nor shut thy hand from thy poor brother;

“ If there is a poor person among you, one of your brothers within any of your gates in the land the Lord your God is giving you, you must not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother.

If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

If a fellow Israelite from one of your villages in the land that the LORD your God is giving you should be poor, you must not harden your heart or be insensitive to his impoverished condition.

If a poor man, one of your brothers, is with you within any of your gates in your land which Yahweh your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother;

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?

Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.

Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.If one of you says to them,“ Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought:“ The seventh year, the year for canceling debts, is near,” so that you do not show ill will toward the needy among your fellow Israelites and give them nothing. They may then appeal to the Lord against you, and you will be found guilty of sin.

“ But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt.
