This is how to cancel debt: Every creditor is to cancel what he has lent his neighbor. He is not to collect anything from his neighbor or brother, because the LORD’s release of debts has been proclaimed.

此豁免年之例如斯、凡貸金於鄰與兄弟、兄弟或作同國之人下同此年必豁免、毋相逼索債、因是年稱為主之豁免年、

This is how it is to be done: Every creditor shall cancel any loan they have made to a fellow Israelite. They shall not require payment from anyone among their own people, because the Lord’s time for canceling debts has been proclaimed.

Have you made a loan to one of your own people? Then forgive what is owed to you. You can’t require that person to pay you back. The Lord’ s time to forgive what is owed has been announced.

And this is the manner of the release: every creditor shall release what he has lent to his neighbor. He shall not exact it of his neighbor, his brother, because the Lord’s release has been proclaimed.

This is how it must be done. Everyone must cancel the loans they have made to their fellow Israelites. They must not demand payment from their neighbors or relatives, for the Lord’s time of release has arrived.

And this is the regulation for the release of debts: every creditor is to forgive what he has loaned to his neighbor; he shall not require it of his neighbor and his brother, because the Lord’s release has been proclaimed.

And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the LORD’s release.

And this is the manner of the release: every creditor shall release that which he hath lent unto his neighbor; he shall not exact it of his neighbor and his brother; because Jehovah’s release hath been proclaimed.

And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners to be repaid in full.But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High. For he is gracious to the ungrateful and evil.Be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.“ Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure— pressed down, shaken together, and running over— will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Since they could not pay it back, he graciously forgave them both. So, which of them will love him more?”

For judgment is without mercy to the one who has not shown mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Hear this, you who trample on the needy and do away with the poor of the land,asking,“ When will the New Moon be over so we may sell grain, and the Sabbath, so we may market wheat? We can reduce the measure while increasing the price and cheat with dishonest scales.We can buy the poor with silver and the needy for a pair of sandals and even sell the chaff!”

After seriously considering the matter, I accused the nobles and officials, saying to them,“ Each of you is charging his countrymen interest.” So I called a large assembly against themand said,“ We have done our best to buy back our Jewish countrymen who were sold to foreigners, but now you sell your own countrymen, and we have to buy them back.” They remained silent and could not say a word.Then I said,“ What you are doing isn’t right. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God and not invite the reproach of our foreign enemies?Even I, as well as my brothers and my servants, have been lending them money and grain. Please, let’s stop charging this interest.Return their fields, vineyards, olive groves, and houses to them immediately, along with the percentage of the money, grain, new wine, and fresh oil that you have been assessing them.”

Since he did not have the money to pay it back, his master commanded that he, his wife, his children, and everything he had be sold to pay the debt.“ At this, the servant fell facedown before him and said,‘ Be patient with me, and I will pay you everything.’Then the master of that servant had compassion, released him, and forgave him the loan.“ That servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him, started choking him, and said,‘ Pay what you owe!’“ At this, his fellow servant fell down and began begging him,‘ Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’But he wasn’t willing. Instead, he went and threw him into prison until he could pay what was owed.When the other servants saw what had taken place, they were deeply distressed and went and reported to their master everything that had happened.Then, after he had summoned him, his master said to him,‘ You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’And because he was angry, his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured until he could pay everything that was owed.So also my heavenly Father will do to you unless every one of you forgives his brother or sister from your heart.”

“ Why have we fasted, but you have not seen? We have denied ourselves, but you haven’t noticed!”“ Look, you do as you please on the day of your fast, and oppress all your workers.

“ For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well.But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your offenses.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
