Don’t think you are being cheated when you set your servants free. After all, they have served you for six years. The service of each of them has been worth twice as much as the service of a hired worker. And the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do.

It shall not seem hard to you when you let him go free from you, for at half the cost of a hired worker he has served you six years. So the Lord your God will bless you in all that you do.

This is what the Lord says to me:“ Within one year, as a servant bound by contract would count it, all the splendor of Kedar will come to an end.

“ Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field,‘ Come along now and sit down to eat’?Won’t he rather say,‘ Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’?
