There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.

There will always be poor people in the land. So I’m commanding you to give freely to those who are poor and needy in your land. Open your hands to them.

For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you,‘ You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’

There will always be some in the land who are poor. That is why I am commanding you to share freely with the poor and with other Israelites in need.

We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer in need but withholds compassion from him— how does God’s love reside in him?Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.

Rich and poor have this in common: the LORD makes them all.

Give to the one who asks you, and don’t turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need.
