彼既滅於爾前、爾當慎之、勿受誘而從之、勿問其神、自謂斯族若何事神、我亦如之、

則當謹恪、勿陷於坎阱、勿求其上帝、意謂斯民服事其上帝、我亦必如是以行。

彼見滅於爾前之後、慎毋隨其惡俗陷於罪網、毋求其所敬之神、毋自言此諸國之民、如何事其諸神、我亦欲如是行、

and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared by inquiring about their gods, saying,“ How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same.”

They will be destroyed to make room for you. But when they are destroyed, be careful. Don’t be trapped. Don’t ask questions about their gods. Don’t say,“ How do these nations serve their gods? We’ll do it in the same way.”

take care that you be not ensnared to follow them, after they have been destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire about their gods, saying,‘ How did these nations serve their gods?— that I also may do the same.’

do not fall into the trap of following their customs and worshiping their gods. Do not inquire about their gods, saying,‘ How do these nations worship their gods? I want to follow their example.’

你们必须灭绝你们的上帝耶和华交在你们手里的各族，不可怜悯他们，不可拜他们的神明，因为那样会使你们陷入网罗。

“‘你们说要像外族人一样去供奉木头石头，你们的想法绝不能实现！’

耶和华说：“不要效法列国的行为。他们被天象吓倒，你们却不要因天象而害怕。

一定要赶走当地的居民，毁掉他们一切的石像和铸像，拆毁他们所有的丘坛。

因此，我奉主的名郑重地劝告各位，不要再像不信的外族人一样过着心灵空虚的日子。

当我引领他们进入我曾起誓要赐给他们的土地时，他们在所见的每一处高山或密林献祭，焚烧馨香的祭牲，向偶像奠酒，惹我发怒。

他们没有照耶和华的命令消灭外族人，反倒与他们混居，仿效他们的习俗，拜他们的神像，陷入网罗。他们把自己的儿女当祭物献给鬼魔，他们把自己的儿女献给迦南的神像作祭物，流他们儿女无辜的血，玷污了那地方。

你们不可追随世界的潮流，要随着思想的不断更新而改变，这样就能明辨上帝的旨意，知道什么是良善、纯全、蒙祂悦纳的。

你们从前长期沉溺于异教徒的嗜好——淫乱、纵欲、醉酒、狂欢、宴乐和可憎的偶像崇拜。如今你们不再和他们同流合污，他们觉得奇怪，就用恶言毁谤你们。

我给你定下国界，从红海到非利士海岸，从旷野到幼发拉底河。我要把其中所有的人都交在你手中，你要把他们全部赶出去。不可跟这些民族及其神明立约，也不可让这些民族住在你的土地上，免得他们使你得罪我，你若供奉他们的神明，必因此而陷入网罗。”

你们曾经住在埃及，但不可效法埃及人的行为。我要把你们带到迦南，但你们不可效法迦南人的行为，不可随从他们的风俗。

你们不可跟这里的居民立约，要毁掉他们的祭坛。’可是你们为什么不听呢？因此，我告诉你们，我必不赶走这里的居民，他们必成为你们肋旁的刺，他们的神明必成为你们的网罗。”

拒绝遵守祂的律例和祂与他们祖先所立的约，无视祂的警告。他们随从虚无的偶像，自己也变得虚无。他们违背耶和华的命令，去效法周围的外族人。
