爾所驅逐諸族、事神之處、或山邱之上、或綠樹之下、俱當毀滅、

爾所驅之民、服事其上帝、無論高山之巔、茂林之下、爾必廢其處、

爾將驅逐列國之人、凡彼等事其神之處、無論高山上、崗上、諸茂樹下、俱當毀壞、

Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains, on the hills and under every spreading tree, where the nations you are dispossessing worship their gods.

“ Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them:‘ When you have crossed the Jordan into the land of Canaan,then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, destroy all their engraved stones, destroy all their molded images, and demolish all their high places;

You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars.

So it was, the next day, that Balak took Balaam and brought him up to the high places of Baal, that from there he might observe the extent of the people.

And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this?
