以利押的兒子是尼母利、大坍、亞比蘭。大坍、亞比蘭是會眾中被選召的，同可拉一黨的人和永恆主爭鬪的時候、也和摩西、亞倫爭鬪；地敞開了口，把他們和可拉吞下去；當時那一黨的人都死，當時有火燒滅了二百五十個人；他們就做了示眾的標記。

於是地敞開了，把大坍吞下去，將亞比蘭一黨的人掩埋起來。

『我們的父親死在曠野，他卻不是在那聚集來攻擊永恆主的那一黨人之中、不在可拉一黨的人中間；他是在自己的罪中死的；他卻沒有兒子。

利未的曾孫、哥轄的孫子、以斯哈的兒子可拉傲慢倔強，和如便子孫中以利押的兒子大坍、亞比蘭、與比勒的兒子安、跟以色列人中二百五十個人、就是會眾的首領、會中被選有名望的人、在摩西面前一同起來。他們聚集了來攻擊摩西、亞倫說：『你們過分了；全會眾各人既都是聖別，永恆主又在他們中間，你們為甚麼高抬自己、超過永恆主的大眾呢？』摩西聽見，就臉伏於地，告訴可拉和他一黨的人說：『到了早晨，永恆主就要使人知道誰是屬他的、誰是分別為聖的、就叫誰親近他；他揀選誰，就叫誰親近他。你們要這樣行；可拉和可拉一黨的人要拿香爐來；明天你們要在永恆主面前、把火盛在爐中，把香放在上面；永恆主揀選誰，誰就分別為聖。利未子孫哪，你們過分了。』摩西又對可拉說：『利未子孫哪，請聽。以色列的上帝將你們從以色列會眾中分別出來，使你們親近他，來辦理永恆主帳幕的事務，又站在會眾面前替他們供職；永恆主又使你和你所有的族弟兄、利未的子孫、和你一同親近他，這在你們看是小事麼？你們還要求祭司的職任麼？所以你和你一黨的人會集了來，是在攻擊永恆主；亞倫算甚麼？你們竟向他發怨言啊！』摩西打發人去把以利押的兒子大坍、亞比蘭叫來。他們說：『我們不上去。你將我們從流奶與蜜之地領上來，要在曠野害死我們，這是小事麼？你還要自立為王子來管理我們麼？況且你也沒有將我們領到流奶與蜜之地，也沒有把田地和葡萄園給我們做產業。難道連我們這些人的眼睛你也要剜出來？我們不上去。』摩西非常惱怒，對永恆主說：『求你不要顧到他們的供物；我並沒有拿走他們一匹驢，也沒有害過他們一個人呀。』摩西對可拉說：『你和你一黨的人——你和他們——以及亞倫、明天都要在永恆主面前。你們各人要拿着自己的香爐，把香盛在上面，帶到永恆主面前：各人拿着自己的香爐，共二百五十個；你和亞倫也各人拿着自己的香爐。』於是他們各人就拿着自己的香爐，盛上火，放上香，去站在會棚的出入處；摩西、亞倫也這樣作。可拉召集了全會眾到會棚出入處要攻擊摩西、亞倫；永恆主的榮光就向全會眾顯現。永恆主告訴摩西、亞倫說：『你們要從這會眾中自己分別出來，我好在眨眼之間吞滅他們。』摩西、亞倫就臉伏於地說：『上帝啊，萬人之靈的上帝啊，一個人犯罪、你就要惱怒全會眾麼？』永恆主告訴摩西說：『你要告訴會眾說：「你們要離開可拉、大坍、亞比蘭帳幕的四圍。」』摩西起來，往大坍、亞比蘭那裏去；以色列的長老也跟着他去。他告訴會眾說：『你們離開這些惡人的帳棚吧！一切屬於他們的、甚麼都不可觸着，恐怕你們也被掃滅於他們的罪中。』於是眾人離開可拉、大坍、亞比蘭帳幕的四圍；大坍、亞比蘭就出來，站在自己帳棚的出入處，他們的妻子、兒女、和小孩、也都站着。摩西說：『由以下這個試驗、你們就可以知道：我行這一切事乃是永恆主差遣我的，並不是憑着我自己的心意的。假如這些人死、正像一切人死的樣子，或是他們所受的察罰、和一切人所受的察罰一樣，那麼、就不是永恆主差遣我了。倘若永恆主創作出一件創舉，而土地開了口，把他們和一切屬於他們的都吞下去，而他們都活活地下到陰間，那你們就知道這些人藐視了永恆主的。』摩西講完了這一切話，那些人腳下的土地就裂開；地敞開了口，就把他們和他們的家眷、跟屬可拉的一切人和財物、都吞下去。於是他們、和一切屬於他們的、都活活地下到陰間；地掩蓋着他們，他們就從大眾中滅亡了。在他們四圍的以色列眾人一聽見他們的號聲，就都逃跑，說：『恐怕地也把我們吞下去呀！』當下又有火從永恆主那裏出來，把那獻香的二百五十個人也燒滅了。
