「耶和華－你的神領你進入你要得為業之地，從你面前趕出許多國家，就是比你更強大的七個國家：赫人、革迦撒人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人。當耶和華－你的神把他們交給你，你擊殺他們的時候，你要完全消滅他們，不可與他們立約，也不可憐惜他們。
