那麼永恆主就必從你們面前把這一切列國人趕出，你們就必取得比你們大比你們強的列國人的地。

要將比你大比你強的國的人、從你面前趕出，而領你進去，將他們的地賜給你為業，像今日一樣，

『以色列啊、你要聽；你今日正要過約但河、進去趕出比你大比你強的列國人、去取得那些又大又有堡壘、高得頂天的城邑。

永恆主你的上帝必將這些國的人從你面前漸漸肅清；你不能迅速地把他們滅盡，恐怕野地裏的獸多起來來害你。永恆主你的上帝必將他們交在你面前，使他們大大驚慌潰亂，直到他們都消滅。

『我今天所吩咐你的、你務要遵守。看吧，我要把亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人、從你面前趕出去。

我必施展我的威風做你的前驅；凡你所到的地方、我必使那裏的眾民都潰亂；使你一切的仇敵都轉背而逃。我必打發大黃蜂在你前面，把希未人、迦南人、赫人、都從你們面前趕出去。我不在一年之內就把他們從你面前趕出去，恐怕這地荒涼，野地的獸多起來來害你。我是要漸漸把他們從你面前趕出去，等到你孳生繁衍、承受那地為產業之時為止。

你進去取得他們的地、並不是因你的美德，也不是因你心裏的正直，乃是因這些國的人的惡，永恆主你的上帝才把他們從你面前趕出，又是因永恆主要實行他向你列祖亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各、所起誓的話。

『永恆主你的上帝領你進入你正要去而取得為業之地，從你面前肅清了許多國的人、就是赫人、革迦撒人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人、七國的人，都比你多、比你強；永恆主你的上帝將他們交在你面前去擊敗的時候，你務要把他們都盡行殺滅歸神；不可和他們立約，也不可恩待他們。
