“以色列啊，你要听，你今日快要过约旦河，进去赶出比你又大又强的列国，占领坚固、高得顶天的城市。

耶和华你的神必把这些国的民，从你面前渐渐赶出去；你不可以把他们迅速地灭尽，恐怕田间的野兽多起来害你。耶和华你的神必把他们交在你面前，使他们大起扰乱，直到他们全被消灭。

我今天吩咐你的，你务要遵守。看哪，我要把亚摩利人、迦南人、赫人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人，从你面前赶逐出去。

我必在你面前展露我的威严；凡你所到的地方，我必使那里的人民慌乱，又使你所有的仇敌都转背而逃。我必在你面前打发大黄蜂，把希未人、迦南人、赫人，都从你面前驱逐出去。我不在一年之内把他们从你面前驱逐出去，恐怕这地变为荒凉，又恐怕田野间的走兽多起来害你。我要渐渐地把他们从你面前驱逐出去，等到你的人数增多起来，承受那地为止。

你进去取得他们的地，并不是因着你的义，也不是因着你心里的正直，而是因着这些国的民的恶，耶和华你的神才把他们从你面前赶出去，为要实践他向你的列祖亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各，起誓应许的话。

“耶和华你的神领你进入你要去得为业的地，从你面前赶走许多民族，就是赫人、革迦撒人、亚摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人，共七个比你又大又强的民族。耶和华你的神把他们交给你，你打败了他们的时候，你要完全毁灭他们，不可与他们立约，也不可恩待他们。
