“ As for me, I stayed on the mountain in the Lord’s presence for forty days and nights, as I had done the first time. And once again the Lord listened to my pleas and agreed not to destroy you.

“我又像从前在山上住了四十昼夜。那次耶和华也应允我，不忍将你灭绝。

Now I had stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights, as I did the first time, and the Lord listened to me at this time also. It was not his will to destroy you.

I had stayed on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights, just as I did the first time. The Lord listened to me that time also. He didn’t want to destroy you.

“ I myself stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights, and the Lord listened to me that time also. The Lord was unwilling to destroy you.

“ I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights like the first time. The LORD also listened to me on this occasion; he agreed not to annihilate you.

“ I, moreover, stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights like the first time, and the Lord listened to me that time also; the Lord was not willing to destroy you.

“ As at the first time, I stayed in the mountain forty days and forty nights; the Lord also heard me at that time, and the Lord chose not to destroy you.

And I stayed in the mount, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights: and Jehovah hearkened unto me that time also; Jehovah would not destroy thee.

“ I stayed on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights like the first time. The Lord also listened to me on this occasion; He agreed not to annihilate you.

And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also,[ and] the LORD would not destroy thee.

As for me, I stayed at the mountain as I did the first time, forty days and nights. The LORD listened to me that time as well and decided not to destroy you.

I stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights; and Yahweh listened to me that time also. Yahweh would not destroy you.

“ That is why I threw myself down before the Lord for forty days and nights— for the Lord said he would destroy you.

Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant— the Ten Commandments— on the stone tablets.

“ Then, as before, I threw myself down before the Lord for forty days and nights. I ate no bread and drank no water because of the great sin you had committed by doing what the Lord hated, provoking him to anger.I feared that the furious anger of the Lord, which turned him against you, would drive him to destroy you. But again he listened to me.

The Lord replied to Moses,“ I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name.”

“ He saved others,” they scoffed,“ but he can’t save himself! So he is the King of Israel, is he? Let him come down from the cross right now, and we will believe in him!

Then Moses disappeared into the cloud as he climbed higher up the mountain. He remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

So the Lord changed his mind about the terrible disaster he had threatened to bring on his people.

But the Lord replied to Moses,“ No, I will erase the name of everyone who has sinned against me.Now go, lead the people to the place I told you about. Look! My angel will lead the way before you. And when I come to call the people to account, I will certainly hold them responsible for their sins.”

“ At that time I pleaded with the Lord and said,‘ O Sovereign Lord, you have only begun to show your greatness and the strength of your hand to me, your servant. Is there any god in heaven or on earth who can perform such great and mighty deeds as you do?Please let me cross the Jordan to see the wonderful land on the other side, the beautiful hill country and the Lebanon mountains.’“ But the Lord was angry with me because of you, and he would not listen to me.‘ That’s enough!’ he declared.‘ Speak of it no more.But go up to Pisgah Peak, and look over the land in every direction. Take a good look, but you may not cross the Jordan River.
