“ But the Lord told me to tell you,‘ Do not attack, for I am not with you. If you go ahead on your own, you will be crushed by your enemies.’

主命我曰、當告民曰、毋往毋戰、我耶和華不在爾中、恐敗於敵、

But the Lord said to me,“ Tell them,‘ Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you. You will be defeated by your enemies.’”

But the Lord spoke to me. He said,“ Tell them,‘ Do not go up and fight. I will not be with you. Your enemies will win the battle over you.’ ”

And the Lord said to me,‘ Say to them, Do not go up or fight, for I am not in your midst, lest you be defeated before your enemies.’

“ But the LORD said to me,‘ Tell them: Don’t go up and fight, for I am not with you to keep you from being defeated by your enemies.’

But the Lord said to me,‘ Say to them,“ Do not go up nor fight, for I am not among you; otherwise you will be defeated by your enemies.” ’

“ And the Lord said to me,‘ Tell them,“ Do not go up nor fight, for I am not among you; lest you be defeated before your enemies.”’

And Jehovah said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.

“ But the Lord said to me,‘ Tell them: Don’t go up and fight, for I am not with you to keep you from being defeated by your enemies.’

And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I[ am] not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.

But the LORD told me:“ Tell them this:‘ Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you and you will be defeated by your enemies.’”

Yahweh said to me,“ Tell them,‘ Don’t go up and don’t fight; for I am not among you, lest you be struck before your enemies.’”

So the Philistines fought desperately, and Israel was defeated again. The slaughter was great; 30,000 Israelite soldiers died that day. The survivors turned and fled to their tents.

But Moses said,“ Why are you now disobeying the Lord’s orders to return to the wilderness? It won’t work.Do not go up into the land now. You will only be crushed by your enemies because the Lord is not with you.When you face the Amalekites and Canaanites in battle, you will be slaughtered. The Lord will abandon you because you have abandoned the Lord.”

Even if you do have children who grow up, I will take them from you. It will be a terrible day when I turn away and leave you alone.

Listen! The Lord’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call.It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.

The Philistines attacked and defeated the army of Israel, killing 4,000 men.

Lord, what can I say now that Israel has fled from its enemies?For when the Canaanites and all the other people living in the land hear about it, they will surround us and wipe our name off the face of the earth. And then what will happen to the honor of your great name?”But the Lord said to Joshua,“ Get up! Why are you lying on your face like this?Israel has sinned and broken my covenant! They have stolen some of the things that I commanded must be set apart for me. And they have not only stolen them but have lied about it and hidden the things among their own belongings.That is why the Israelites are running from their enemies in defeat. For now Israel itself has been set apart for destruction. I will not remain with you any longer unless you destroy the things among you that were set apart for destruction.“ Get up! Command the people to purify themselves in preparation for tomorrow. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Hidden among you, O Israel, are things set apart for the Lord. You will never defeat your enemies until you remove these things from among you.

One of them will chase a thousand of you. Five of them will make all of you flee. You will be left like a lonely flagpole on a hill or a tattered banner on a distant mountaintop.”

I will turn against you, and you will be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you, and you will run even when no one is chasing you!
