“ But you all came to me and said,‘ First, let’s send out scouts to explore the land for us. They will advise us on the best route to take and which towns we should enter.’

你們都就近我來說：『我們要先打發人去，為我們窺探那地，將我們上去該走何道，必進何城，都回報我們。』

你們都來到我這裏，說：『讓我們先派人去，為我們窺探那地，把我們上去該走的路線和該進的城鎮回報我們。』

你們都來到我這裏，說：『讓我們先派人去，為我們窺探那地，把我們上去該走的路線和該進的城鎮回報我們。』

你們來對我說，『我們要先派人去打探那地方，回來好告訴我們當走哪條路，當佔哪些城。』

你們眾人都走到我這裡來，說：‘我們要先派些人去，替我們窺探那地，然後把我們上去該走哪一條路，該進哪些城，向我們回報。’

你們都走近我來、說：「我們要打發人先去為我們偵察那地，將我們上去該走哪一條路、該進哪幾個城、都回報我們。」

爾眾詣我曰、不如先遣人為我窺其地、返而告我、當行何道、將至何邑、

爾曹來前、告我曰、我將遣使、往探其地、返可復我、當由何道、當至何邑。

爾眾至我前謂我曰、我儕不如先遣人為我窺探其地、返而告我、何道可行、何邑可入、

Then all of you came to me and said,“ Let us send men ahead to spy out the land for us and bring back a report about the route we are to take and the towns we will come to.”

Then all of you came to me. You said,“ Let’s send some men ahead of us. They can check out the land for us and bring back a report. They can suggest to us which way to go. They can tell us about the towns we’ll come to.”

Then all of you came near me and said,‘ Let us send men before us, that they may explore the land for us and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up and the cities into which we shall come.’

“ Then all of you approached me and said,‘ Let’s send men ahead of us, so that they may explore the land for us and bring us back a report about the route we should go up and the cities we will come to.’

“ Then all of you approached me and said,‘ Let us send men ahead of us, so that they may spy out the land for us, and bring back to us word of the way by which we should go up, and the cities which we should enter.’

“ And everyone of you came near to me and said,‘ Let us send men before us, and let them search out the land for us, and bring back word to us of the way by which we should go up, and of the cities into which we shall come.’

And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, Let us send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up, and the cities unto which we shall come.

“ Then all of you approached me and said,‘ Let’s send men ahead of us, so that they may explore the land for us and bring us back a report about the route we should go up and the cities we will come to.’

And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

So all of you approached me and said,“ Let’s send some men ahead of us to scout out the land and bring us back word as to how we should attack it and what the cities are like there.”

You came near to me, everyone of you, and said,“ Let’s send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring back to us word of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.”

The Lord now said to Moses,“ Send out men to explore the land of Canaan, the land I am giving to the Israelites. Send one leader from each of the twelve ancestral tribes.”So Moses did as the Lord commanded him. He sent out twelve men, all tribal leaders of Israel, from their camp in the wilderness of Paran.These were the tribes and the names of their leaders: Tribe Leader Reuben Shammua son of ZaccurSimeon Shaphat son of HoriJudah Caleb son of JephunnehIssachar Igal son of JosephEphraim Hoshea son of NunBenjamin Palti son of RaphuZebulun Gaddiel son of SodiManasseh son of Joseph Gaddi son of SusiDan Ammiel son of GemalliAsher Sethur son of MichaelNaphtali Nahbi son of VophsiGad Geuel son of MakiThese are the names of the men Moses sent out to explore the land.( Moses called Hoshea son of Nun by the name Joshua.)Moses gave the men these instructions as he sent them out to explore the land:“ Go north through the Negev into the hill country.See what the land is like, and find out whether the people living there are strong or weak, few or many.See what kind of land they live in. Is it good or bad? Do their towns have walls, or are they unprotected like open camps?Is the soil fertile or poor? Are there many trees? Do your best to bring back samples of the crops you see.”( It happened to be the season for harvesting the first ripe grapes.)
