Choose some wise, understanding and respected men from each of your tribes, and I will set them over you.”

So choose some wise men from each of your tribes. They must understand how to give good advice. The people must have respect for them. I will appoint those men to have authority over you.”

Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men, and I will appoint them as your heads.’

你並且要從眾民之間物色有才德敬畏上帝的人、可信可靠、恨惡不義之財的人，設立他們為千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長，去管理眾民；

永恆主對摩西說：『你要從以色列長老中聚集七十個人、就是你所知道做人民的長老和官吏的、到我這裏來，領他們到會棚前，叫他們和你一同站在那裏。我要在那裏降臨，和你說話，也要把在你身上的靈分在他們身上，他們就要和你一同擔當這管理人民的責任，免得你獨自擔當。

十二個人就把那一羣門徒叫來，說：『我們撇下上帝之道，而在飯席上作服事的工，並不是令人愜意的事。所以弟兄們、總要鑑擇你們中間有好名譽的七個人，充滿着聖靈和智慧的，我們就委派他們來管理這事務；我們呢、便可以恆心專務於禱告和傳道的職事。』這話使全羣的眾人都滿意，他們就揀選一個充滿着信心和聖靈的人司提反、以及腓利、伯羅哥羅、尼迦挪、提門、巴米拿，和歸依猶太教的安提阿人尼哥拉；叫他們站在使徒面前；使徒就禱告，給他們按手。

所以主耶穌在我們中間始終出入的時候、從約翰之施洗起、到主從我們中間被接上升的日子為止，所有同我們來往的這些人中間、必須有一位、同我們作他復活的見證。』於是他們提舉了兩個人：就是那叫巴撒巴、又稱為猶士都的約瑟、和馬提亞。
