Choose some wise, understanding and respected men from each of your tribes, and I will set them over you.”

So choose some wise men from each of your tribes. They must understand how to give good advice. The people must have respect for them. I will appoint those men to have authority over you.”

Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men, and I will appoint them as your heads.’

你要從人民中間選出有才能的人，就是敬畏神、忠實可信、恨惡不義之財的人，設立他們作千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長，去管理人民，

耶和華對摩西說：“你要從以色列的長老中為我召聚七十個人，就是你認識的民間的長老和官長，領他們到會幕那裡，叫他們與你一同站在那裡。我要在那裡降臨，與你說話，也要把在你身上的靈，分給他們，他們就與你一同擔當管理人民的責任，免得你獨自擔當。

於是十二使徒召集了眾門徒，說：“要我們放下神的道，去管理伙食，是不合適的。所以弟兄們，應當從你們中間選出七個有好見證、滿有聖靈和智慧的人，我們就派他們負責這事。至於我們，我們要專心祈禱、傳道。”這個意見全會眾都很滿意，於是選出司提反，他是一位滿有信心和聖靈的人，還有腓利、伯羅哥羅、尼加挪、提門、巴米拿，以及歸信猶太教的安提阿人尼哥拉，叫他們站在使徒面前。使徒禱告後，就為他們按手。

所以，從約翰施洗起，直到主離開我們被接上升的那天為止，當他在我們中間來往的時候，那些跟我們常在一起的人中，應該有一個人出來與我們一同作耶穌復活的見證人。”
