in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

In that year I learned from the Scriptures that Jerusalem would remain destroyed for 70 years. That was what the Lord had told Jeremiah the prophet.

in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, perceived in the books the number of years that, according to the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.

“耶和华如此说：为巴比伦所定的七十年满了以后，我要眷顾你们，向你们成就我的恩言，使你们仍回此地。

这就应验耶和华藉耶利米口所说的话：地享受安息；因为地土荒凉便守安息，直满了七十年。

“你要宣告国内的众民和祭司，说：‘你们这七十年，在五月、七月禁食悲哀，岂是丝毫向我禁食吗？

这全地必然荒凉，令人惊骇。这些国民要服侍巴比伦王七十年。七十年满了以后，我必刑罚巴比伦王和那国民，并迦勒底人之地，因他们的罪孽使那地永远荒凉。这是耶和华说的。

波斯王居鲁士元年，耶和华为要应验藉耶利米口所说的话，就激动波斯王居鲁士的心，使他下诏通告全国说：

念这书上预言的和那些听见又遵守其中所记载的，都是有福的，因为日期近了。

我们并有先知更确的预言，如同灯照在暗处。你们在这预言上留意，直等到天发亮，晨星在你们心里出现的时候，才是好的。第一要紧的，该知道经上所有的预言没有可随私意解说的；因为预言从来没有出于人意的，乃是人被圣灵感动，说出神的话来。

论到这救恩，那预先说你们要得恩典的众先知早已详细地寻求考察，就是考察在他们心里基督的灵，预先证明基督受苦难，后来得荣耀，是指着什么时候，并怎样的时候。他们得了启示，知道他们所传讲的一切事，不是为自己，乃是为你们。那靠着从天上差来的圣灵传福音给你们的人，现在将这些事报给你们；天使也愿意详细察看这些事。

并且知道你是从小明白圣经，这圣经能使你因信基督耶稣，有得救的智慧。圣经都是神所默示的，于教训、督责、使人归正、教导人学义都是有益的，叫属神的人得以完全，预备行各样的善事。

所以因你们的缘故，锡安必被耕种像一块田，耶路撒冷必变为乱堆；这殿的山必像丛林的高处。

神啊，外邦人进入你的产业，污秽你的圣殿，使耶路撒冷变成荒堆，把你仆人的尸首交与天空的飞鸟为食，把你圣民的肉交与地上的野兽，

我但以理见了这异象，愿意明白其中的意思。忽有一位形状像人的站在我面前。我又听见乌莱河两岸中有人声呼叫说：“加百列啊，要使此人明白这异象。”

“当犹大王希西家的日子，有摩利沙人弥迦对犹大众人预言说：‘万军之耶和华如此说：锡安必被耕种像一块田；耶路撒冷必变为乱堆；这殿的山必像丛林的高处。’

先前满有人民的城，现在何竟独坐！先前在列国中为大的，现在竟如寡妇；先前在诸省中为王后的，现在成为进贡的。

荒凉的城拆毁了；各家关门闭户，使人都不得进去。在街上因酒有悲叹的声音；一切喜乐变为昏暗；地上的欢乐归于无有。城中只有荒凉；城门拆毁净尽。

我就必使这殿如示罗，使这城为地上万国所咒诅的。’”

太监对腓利说：“请问，先知说这话是指着谁？是指着自己呢？是指着别人呢？”

我比我的师傅更通达，因我思想你的法度。我比年老的更明白，因我守了你的训词。

“你们看见先知但以理所说的‘那行毁坏可憎的’站在圣地（读这经的人须要会意）。

就是耶路撒冷和犹大的城邑，并耶路撒冷的君王与首领，使这城邑荒凉，令人惊骇、嗤笑、咒诅，正如今日一样。

那时，我必使犹大城邑中和耶路撒冷街上，欢喜和快乐的声音，新郎和新妇的声音，都止息了，因为地必成为荒场。”

你的圣邑变为旷野。锡安变为旷野；耶路撒冷成为荒场。

你要以宣读、劝勉、教导为念，直等到我来。

你的法度是我所喜乐的，是我的谋士。

我就说：“主啊，这到几时为止呢？”他说：“直到城邑荒凉，无人居住，房屋空闲无人，地土极其荒凉。并且耶和华将人迁到远方，在这境内撇下的地土很多。

“你们看见那行毁坏可憎的，站在不当站的地方（读这经的人须要会意）。那时，在犹太的，应当逃到山上；

列国都必服侍他和他的儿孙，直到他本国遭报的日期来到。那时，多国和大君王要使他作他们的奴仆。

求你举步去看那日久荒凉之地，仇敌在圣所中所行的一切恶事。你的敌人在你会中吼叫；他们竖了自己的旗为记号。他们好像人扬起斧子，砍伐林中的树。圣所中一切雕刻的，他们现在用斧子锤子打坏了。他们用火焚烧你的圣所，亵渎你名的居所，拆毁到地。
