in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

In that year I learned from the Scriptures that Jerusalem would remain destroyed for 70 years. That was what the Lord had told Jeremiah the prophet.

这样，就应验了耶和华藉耶利米所说的话：直到这地享满了安息，因为这地在荒凉的日子，就享安息，直到满了七十年。

“你要告诉这地的人民和祭司说：‘这七十年来，你们在五月和七月禁食哀哭，岂是真的为我禁食呢？

这地要全变为荒废，令人惊骇；这些国家要服事巴比伦王七十年。“七十年满了以后，我要按着他们的罪孽惩罚巴比伦王和那国，就是迦勒底人之地，使它永远荒凉。”这是耶和华的宣告。

波斯王古列元年，耶和华为要应验他藉耶利米的口所说的话，就激动波斯王古列的心灵，使他通令全国，传达文告说：

读这书上预言的人，和那些听见这预言并且遵守书中记载的人，都是有福的！因为时候近了。

我们还有先知的话，是更确实的。你们要特别注意它，好像注意照在暗处的明灯，直到天将破晓，晨星在你们心里出现的时候。最要紧的，你们应当知道：圣经所有的预言，都不是先知自己的见解，因为预言不是出于人意的，而是人受圣灵的感动，说出从神而来的话。

论到这救恩，那预言你们要得恩典的众先知，都寻求考察过，就是把他们心里基督的灵所预先见证，关于基督要受苦难后来得荣耀，是在什么时候和怎样的情况加以考察。他们蒙了启示，为这些事效力，并不是为自己，而是为你们。现在，藉着传福音给你们的人，靠着从天上差来的圣灵，把这些事传给了你们；甚至天使也很想详细察看这些事。

并且知道自己从小就明白圣经，这圣经能够使你有智慧，可以因信基督耶稣得着救恩。全部圣经都是神所默示的，在教训、责备、矫正和公义的训练各方面，都是有益的，为要使属神的人装备好，可以完成各样的善工。

所以，为你们的缘故，锡安必像被耕种的田地，耶路撒冷必变为乱堆，这殿的山要成为丛林中的高冈。

神啊！外族人侵入你的产业，污秽了你的圣殿，使耶路撒冷成为废墟。（本节在《马索拉文本》包括细字标题）他们把你仆人的尸首，给空中的飞鸟啄食；把你圣民的肉，给地上的野兽吞噬。

我但以理看见了这异象以后，就想明白它的意义；忽然有一位外貌像人的，站在我面前。我又听见从乌莱河两岸之间，有人的声音呼叫着说：“加百列啊！你要使这人明白这异象。”

“在犹大王希西家的日子，摩利沙人弥迦对犹大的众民说预言：‘万军之耶和华这样说：锡安要像田地被耕犁，耶路撒冷必成为废墟，这殿的山必变为杂树丛生的高冈。’

从前人烟稠密的城中，现在怎么竟然孤独地坐在那里。从前在列国中为大的，现在怎么竟然像个寡妇。从前在众省份中为王后的，现在怎么竟然成了奴隶。

混乱的城破毁了，各家关门闭户，使人不得进入。有人在街上因无酒呼喊；一切喜乐都已过去，地上的喜乐都消逝了。城门所剩下的只有荒凉，城门被撞得粉碎。

我就必使这殿像示罗一样，使这城成为地上列国咒诅的对象。’”

太监对腓利说：“请问先知这话是指谁说的？指他自己呢？还是指别人？”

我比我所有的老师明智，因为我默想你的法度。我比老年人更明理，因为我遵守你的训词。

“当你们看见但以理先知所说的‘那造成荒凉的可憎者’，站在圣地的时候（读者必须领悟），

包括耶路撒冷、犹大的城镇，和她的君王、领袖，使这些城镇荒废，成为令人惊骇、被人嗤笑、咒骂的对象，好像今天一样。

那时，我必在犹大的城市中和耶路撒冷的街道上，使欢欣和快乐的声音、新郎和新妇的声音止息，因为这地必要变为荒场。”

你的圣城变了旷野，锡安成了旷野，耶路撒冷成了荒场。

在我来以前，你要专心宣读圣经、劝勉和教导。

你的法度是我的喜乐，是我的谋士。

于是我说：“主啊，这要到几时为止呢？”他回答说：“直到城镇荒凉，无人居住；房屋空置无人，地土废弃荒凉。耶和华要把人迁到远方，在这境内必有很多被撇下的地土。

“当你们看见‘那造成荒凉的可憎者’，站在不该站的地方（读者必须领悟），那时，住在犹太的应当逃到山上；

列国都要服事他和他的儿子、孙子，直到他本国遭报的时候来到；那时，许多国家和大君王都要奴役他。

求你举步去看那些长久荒凉的地方，去看仇敌在圣所里所行的一切恶事。你的敌人在敬拜你的聚会中吼叫，他们竖起了自己的旗帜为记号。他们好像那些举起斧子，在树林中砍伐树木的人。圣殿中的一切雕刻，他们都用斧子和铳子打碎了。他们用火把你的圣所烧成焦土，他们亵渎你名的居所。
