「這王任意而行，自高自大，高抬自己超過一切神明，並說荒謬的話來敵對萬神之神；他事事順利，直到憤怒的時期終結，因為那被註定的事必成就。

我看見公山羊接近公綿羊，怒氣衝衝地撞擊牠，折斷了牠的兩隻犄角，公綿羊就沒有力量在公山羊面前站立得住。公山羊把牠撞倒在地，踩踏牠，沒有誰能解救公綿羊脫離公山羊的權勢。

因著神所賜給他的權勢，所有的民族、國家、語言群體都在他面前戰兢恐懼；他想要殺誰就殺誰，想要讓誰活就讓誰活，想要高舉誰就高舉誰，想要降卑誰就降卑誰。

免得他們像獅子那樣撕裂我，撕碎我，也沒有人解救。

現在我就把關乎真理的事告訴你。「看哪，在波斯又會有三個王興起！之後第四個王會擁有極大的財富，超過所有的王。他藉著自己的財富變得強盛，就挑動全國與希臘國對立。後來，會有一個勇猛的王興起，他必執掌大權，任意而行；

當夜，迦勒底人的王伯沙撒被殺了。

「看哪，有另一隻獸，就是第二隻，彷彿一隻熊！牠用一側站立，口中的牙齒之間有三根肋骨；有話對牠這樣說：『起來，吞吃大量的肉！』

耶和華緊拉著居魯士的右手，讓列國降服在他面前，使君王們的腰帶鬆開；又讓門在他面前敞開，使城門也不關閉——耶和華對所膏立的居魯士如此說：「我必在你前面行，修平崎嶇之地；我要打碎銅門，砍斷鐵閂。我要把暗處的寶物和隱祕處的寶藏賜給你，好讓你知道：是我耶和華以色列的神提你的名召喚了你。為我僕人雅各、我所揀選的以色列的緣故，我提你的名召喚你；你雖然不認識我，我卻給你一個尊名。我是耶和華，別無其二；除我以外沒有神。你雖然不認識我，我卻裝備你；

忘記神的人哪，你們當領悟這事，免得我撕碎你們，沒有人解救！

因為亞述王說：「這是我以自己手的能力和自己的智慧所做的，因為我很聰明——我挪移了列國的地界，搶掠了他們的財寶，又像一個壯士使他們的居民臣服。我的手找到列國的財富，如同找到鳥巢；我收取全地，好像收取遺棄的鳥蛋；沒有一個扇翅膀的，沒有一個張嘴的，也沒有一個啼叫的。」
