因着神所赐给他的权势，所有的民族、国家、语言群体都在他面前战兢恐惧；他想要杀谁就杀谁，想要让谁活就让谁活，想要高举谁就高举谁，想要降卑谁就降卑谁。

免得他们像狮子那样撕裂我，撕碎我，也没有人解救。

现在我就把关乎真理的事告诉你。“看哪，在波斯又会有三个王兴起！之后第四个王会拥有极大的财富，超过所有的王。他藉着自己的财富变得强盛，就挑动全国与希腊国对立。后来，会有一个勇猛的王兴起，他必执掌大权，任意而行；

当夜，迦勒底人的王伯沙撒被杀了。

“看哪，有另一只兽，就是第二只，仿佛一只熊！它用一侧站立，口中的牙齿之间有三根肋骨；有话对它这样说：‘起来，吞吃大量的肉！’

耶和华紧拉着居鲁士的右手，让列国降服在他面前，使君王们的腰带松开；又让门在他面前敞开，使城门也不关闭——耶和华对所膏立的居鲁士如此说：“我必在你前面行，修平崎岖之地；我要打碎铜门，砍断铁闩。我要把暗处的宝物和隐秘处的宝藏赐给你，好让你知道：是我耶和华以色列的神提你的名召唤了你。为我仆人雅各、我所拣选的以色列的缘故，我提你的名召唤你；你虽然不认识我，我却给你一个尊名。我是耶和华，别无其二；除我以外没有神。你虽然不认识我，我却装备你；

忘记神的人哪，你们当领悟这事，免得我撕碎你们，没有人解救！

因为亚述王说：“这是我以自己手的能力和自己的智慧所做的，因为我很聪明——我挪移了列国的地界，抢掠了他们的财宝，又像一个壮士使他们的居民臣服。我的手找到列国的财富，如同找到鸟巢；我收取全地，好像收取遗弃的鸟蛋；没有一个扇翅膀的，没有一个张嘴的，也没有一个啼叫的。”
