我又舉目觀看，忽見一個人，手裏拿着量地的繩子。

接替你的、必有另一國立起來，不及於你；又有另一個第三國、是銅的、掌權管理全地。

『你們要把箭頭磨光，把全副武器裝束起來；因為永恆主定意擊打巴比倫，將她毁滅，故此永恆主激動了瑪代王的心；因為這是永恆主的報復，為他的殿而行的報復。

我又舉目觀看，見有四輛車從兩山之間出來；那兩座山是銅山。

另有一隻獸、是第二隻，好像熊。牠身體的一邊挺起着；口中啣着三根肋骨在牙齒間；有吩咐這獸的話這樣說：「起來吞喫許多的肉。」

大衛舉目，看見了永恆主的使者在空中站着，手裏有拔出來的刀，在耶路撒冷上空伸着。大衛和長老們都披上麻布，臉伏於地。

我又舉目觀看，見有一卷書飛行着。

『波斯王古列這麼說：「永恆主天上的上帝已將地上萬國都賜給我，是他委派了我在猶大的耶路撒冷、為他建殿。

那跟我說話的天使出來，對我說：『你要舉目觀看，看這出來的是甚麼。』

有個嚴厲冷酷的異象指示了我：那以詭詐行強暴的、還在以詭詐行強暴，那毁滅者還在行毁滅。以攔哪，上去哦！瑪代啊，圍困哦！使一切驕傲止息哦！

儘波斯王古列掌權的日子、直到波斯王大利烏執掌國政的時候、他們總是買賂了一些參謀來反對他們，要破壞他們所計畫的。

巴蘭舉目，看見以色列人一族派一族派地住着營，上帝的靈就感動他；

這樣、這但以理當大利烏掌國政時、跟波斯人古列掌國政時、就都諸事順利、無大亨通。

他執政第三年、曾為他的眾官長和臣僕擺設了筵席；有波斯和瑪代的權貴各省最顯達的人和官長、在他面前；
