I, Daniel, was worn out. I lay exhausted for several days. Then I got up and went about the king’s business. I was appalled by the vision; it was beyond understanding.

撒母耳睡到清晨，打開耶和華殿的門。撒母耳怕告訴以利那異象，

因此，唯獨剩下我一人看到了這極大的異象；我裡面一點力氣都沒有，我的臉色變得如同死灰，我的力氣也留存不住，

看哪！那位樣子像人的碰了我的嘴唇，我就開口說話。我對那位站在我面前的說：「我主啊！因這異象，劇痛臨到我身上，我的力氣就留存不住。

我看見公山羊接近公綿羊，怒氣衝衝地撞擊牠，折斷了牠的兩隻犄角，公綿羊就沒有力量在公山羊面前站立得住。公山羊把牠撞倒在地，踩踏牠，沒有誰能解救公綿羊脫離公山羊的權勢。

我在異象中觀看，看見自己在以攔省的蘇薩城堡中；我在異象中繼續觀看，又看見自己在烏萊運河邊。

我聽說過你裡面有神的靈，也發現你裡面有光明、悟性、超卓的智慧。

王就提拔了但以理，賜給他許多貴重的禮物，使他統轄巴比倫全省，並且立他為總長之首管理巴比倫的所有智慧人。但以理向王提出請求，王就指派沙德拉克、米沙克、亞伯尼哥管理巴比倫省的事務；但以理卻留在王的宮廷中。

又在他們之上任命三位總督察，但以理是其中之一；這些行政官要向他們三位負責交代，好使王不受損失。這但以理在總督察和行政官中出類拔萃，因為在他裡面有超卓的靈性；王就打算任命他治理全國。
