只剩下我一人观看这奇异的景象。我浑身无力，脸色苍白，精疲力尽。

后来，有一位样子像人的用手摸我的嘴唇，我便开口对站在我面前的说：“我主啊，因为这异象，我痛苦不堪，毫无气力。

我看见公山羊愤怒地顶向公绵羊，攻击它，折断了它的双角。公绵羊无力抵挡，被撞倒在地，践踏在脚下，无人能救它脱离公山羊的威力。

我在异象中看见自己在以拦省的书珊城，又看见自己站在乌莱河畔。

我听说你有神明的灵，有灼见、悟性和非凡的智慧。

王赐但以理高官及许多贵重的礼物，派他治理巴比伦全省，管理巴比伦所有的智者。王又应允但以理的请求，派沙得拉、米煞和亚伯尼歌负责巴比伦省的事务。但以理仍在朝中供职。

总督之上，设三个总长，以维护王的统治，但以理是其中之一。因为但以理有非凡的心智，远超过其他总长和总督，王便考虑让他治理全国。
