In the third year of King Cyrus of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel( who was also called Belteshazzar). This message was true and concerned a great war. He understood the message and gained insight by the vision.

“ But you, Daniel, close up these words and seal the book until the time of the end. Many will dash about, and knowledge will increase.”

Now I have come to help you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision pertains to future days.”

He said,“ Go, Daniel. For these matters are closed and sealed until the time of the end.

Then he said to me,“ Do not seal up the words of the prophecy contained in this book, because the time is near.

“ Take note, son of man, the house of Israel is saying,‘ The vision that he sees is for distant days; he is prophesying about the far future.’

When the seven thunders spoke, I was preparing to write, but just then I heard a voice from heaven say,“ Seal up what the seven thunders spoke and do not write it down.”

Then I told her,“ You must live with me many days; you must not commit adultery or have sexual intercourse with another man, and I also will wait for you.”For the Israelites must live many days without a king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred fertility pillar, without ephod or idols.

It also acted arrogantly against the Prince of the army, from whom the daily sacrifice was removed and whose sanctuary was thrown down.The army was given over, along with the daily sacrifice, in the course of his sinful rebellion. It hurled truth to the ground and enjoyed success.Then I heard a holy one speaking. Another holy one said to the one who was speaking,“ To what period of time does the vision pertain– this vision concerning the daily sacrifice and the destructive act of rebellion and the giving over of both the sanctuary and army to be trampled?”He said to me,“ To 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be put right again.”While I, Daniel, was watching the vision, I sought to understand it. Now one who appeared to be a man was standing before me.

They will be imprisoned in a pit, locked up in a prison, and after staying there for a long time, they will be punished.
