In the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams; and his spirit was troubled, and his sleep went from him.

He said,“ Now hear my words. If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream.

but there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has made known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head on your bed, are these:“ As for you, O king, your thoughts came on your bed, what should happen hereafter; and he who reveals secrets has made known to you what will happen.

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that through perseverance and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. For I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

All the nations will serve him, his son, and his son’s son, until the time of his own land comes. Then many nations and great kings will make him their bondservant.

“ You, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this,

Now in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

“ After this I saw in the night visions, and, behold, there was a fourth animal, awesome and powerful, and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth. It devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet. It was different from all the animals that were before it. It had ten horns.

In that night Belshazzar the Chaldean King was slain.

When the seven thunders sounded, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from the sky saying,“ Seal up the things which the seven thunders said, and don’t write them.”

After these things Yahweh’s word came to Abram in a vision, saying,“ Don’t be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

Yahweh said to me,“ Take a large tablet, and write on it with a man’s pen,‘ For Maher Shalal Hash Baz’;

Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever.

In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, even to me, Daniel, after that which appeared to me at the first.
