尼布甲尼撒在位第二年，尼布甲尼撒做夢，靈裡煩亂，睡不著覺。

神藉著夜間的異象對以色列說：「雅各！雅各！」他說：「我在這裡！」

我在夜間的異象中繼續觀看，看哪，有一位像人子的，在天上的雲彩中來臨，被引領來到亙古永存者面前！

『神說，在末後的那些日子裡將是這樣：我要把我的靈傾注在所有人身上，你們的兒女要說預言，你們的年輕人要見異象，你們的老年人要做異夢。是的，在那些日子裡，我也要將我的靈傾注在我的奴僕和婢女們身上，他們就要說預言。

然而天上有一位神，就是顯明奧祕的那一位，他已經使尼布甲尼撒王明白了末後的日子將要發生的事——這就是你在床上所做的夢和腦海中的異象。王啊，你在床上所懷的意念是此後將要發生的事，而顯明奧祕的那一位已經使你明白了將要發生的事！

實際上，凡是先前被記載的，都是為了教導我們而寫的，好讓我們藉著忍耐和經上的安慰，懷有盼望。

誇耀雖然沒有益處，但是必須的；我要說到主的異象和啟示：

「至於你，他的繼位人伯沙撒啊！你雖然知道這一切，自己的心卻不降卑，

「此後在夜間的異象中我繼續觀看，看哪，第四隻獸非常恐怖、十分可怕、極其強壯！牠有大鐵牙，吞吃咬碎，又把剩餘的用腳踩踏；牠與之前的各獸都不相同，牠有十隻犄角。

當夜，迦勒底人的王伯沙撒被殺了。

當那七個雷發出了自己的聲音，我正要寫下來，卻聽見有聲音從天上傳來，說：「你要封住七個雷所說的話，不可寫下來。」

這些事以後，在異象中，耶和華的話語臨到亞伯蘭，說：「亞伯蘭哪，你不要害怕！我是你的盾牌，你的賞報將極其大。」

耶和華對我說：「你要拿一塊大板子，用通行的文字寫上『瑪黑珥·薩拉勒·哈施·罷斯』。

現在你去！在他們面前把這話刻在版上，記在書卷上，作為將來日子的證據，直到永遠。

伯沙撒王在位第三年，又有一個異象向我但以理顯現，是在先前向我顯現的異象之後。
