王遂命人以但以理攜至、投之獅穴、告但以理曰、爾所恆事之天主、必必或作願其救爾、

So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel,“ May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”

But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble.And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.

He shall deliver you in six troubles, Yes, in seven no evil shall touch you.

“ Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.

Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying,“ Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God!

And I am weak today, though anointed king; and these men, the sons of Zeruiah, are too harsh for me. The Lord shall repay the evildoer according to his wickedness.”

If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.

And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel,“ Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”

It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man.It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in princes.

The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.

For if I am an offender, or have committed anything deserving of death, I do not object to dying; but if there is nothing in these things of which these men accuse me, no one can deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar.”

Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, good! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?”

But after two years Porcius Festus succeeded Felix; and Felix, wanting to do the Jews a favor, left Paul bound.

Then the governor said,“ Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more, saying,“ Let Him be crucified!”When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying,“ I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.”And all the people answered and said,“ His blood be on us and on our children.”Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.

Then Zedekiah the king said,“ Look, he is in your hand. For the king can do nothing against you.”

Immediately she came in with haste to the king and asked, saying,“ I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he did not want to refuse her.Immediately the king sent an executioner and commanded his head to be brought. And he went and beheaded him in prison,brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.

But Festus, wanting to do the Jews a favor, answered Paul and said,“ Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and there be judged before me concerning these things?”

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.

So she, having been prompted by her mother, said,“ Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a platter.”And the king was sorry; nevertheless, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he commanded it to be given to her.So he sent and had John beheaded in prison.

Then Pilate said to them,“ Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more,“ Crucify Him!”So Pilate, wanting to gratify the crowd, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged Him, to be crucified.

All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions.

From then on Pilate sought to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying,“ If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar’s friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.”When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus out and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha.Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, and about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews,“ Behold your King!”But they cried out,“ Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them,“ Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered,“ We have no king but Caesar!”Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. Then they took Jesus and led Him away.

As for me, here I am, in your hand; do with me as seems good and proper to you.

For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve,saying,‘ Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’
