Then the king gave orders, and Daniel was brought in and thrown into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel,“ Your God whom you continually serve will Himself rescue you.”

王遂命人以但以理攜至、投之獅穴、告但以理曰、爾所恆事之天主、必必或作願其救爾、

So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel,“ May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”

But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in time of trouble.The Lord helps them and rescues them; He rescues them from the wicked and saves them, Because they take refuge in Him.

In six troubles He will save you; Even in seven, evil will not touch you.

“ Because he has loved Me, I will save him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.I will satisfy him with a long life, And show him My salvation.”

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.

Nebuchadnezzar responded and said,“ Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed nego, who has sent His angel and rescued His servants who put their trust in Him, violating the king’s command, and surrendered their bodies rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.

And I am weak today, though anointed king; and these men, the sons of Zeruiah, are too difficult for me. May the Lord repay the evildoer in proportion to his evil.”

If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will rescue us from your hand, O king.

And when he had come near the den to Daniel, he cried out with a troubled voice. The king began speaking and said to Daniel,“ Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you continually serve, been able to rescue you from the lions?”

It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in people.It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in noblemen.

The fear of man brings a snare, But one who trusts in the Lord will be protected.

If, therefore, I am in the wrong and have committed something deserving death, I am not trying to avoid execution; but if there is nothing to the accusations which these men are bringing against me, no one can hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar.”

Now if you are ready, at the moment you hear the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery and bagpipe, and all kinds of musical instruments, to fall down and worship the statue that I have made, very well. But if you do not worship, you will immediately be thrown into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire; and what god is there who can rescue you from my hands?”

But after two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus; and Felix, wanting to do the Jews a favor, left Paul imprisoned.

But he said,“ Why, what evil has He done?” Yet they kept shouting all the more, saying,“ Crucify Him!”Now when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying,“ I am innocent of this Man’s blood; you yourselves shall see.”And all the people replied,“ His blood shall be on us and on our children!”Then he released Barabbas for them; but after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

And King Zedekiah said,“ Behold, he is in your hands; for the king can do nothing against you.”

Immediately she came in a hurry to the king and asked, saying,“ I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”And although the king was very sorry, because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he was unwilling to refuse her.Immediately the king sent an executioner and commanded him to bring back his head. And he went and beheaded him in the prison,and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.

But Festus, wanting to do the Jews a favor, replied to Paul and said,“ Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and stand trial before me on these charges?”

For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;

And after being prompted by her mother, she* said,“ Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter.”And although he was grieved, the king commanded it to be given because of his oaths and his dinner guests.He sent word and had John beheaded in the prison.

But Pilate said to them,“ Why, what evil has He done?” But they shouted all the more,“ Crucify Him!”Intent on satisfying the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

All the commissioners of the kingdom, the prefects and the satraps, the counselors and the governors, have consulted together that the king should establish a statute and enforce an injunction that anyone who offers a prayer to any god or person besides you, O king, for thirty days, shall be thrown into the lions’ den.

As a result of this, Pilate made efforts to release Him; but the Jews shouted, saying,“ If you release this Man, you are not a friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar!”Therefore when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Pavement— but in Hebrew, Gabbatha.Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he* said to the Jews,“ Look, your King!”So they shouted,“ Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!” Pilate* said to them,“ Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered,“ We have no king except Caesar.”So he then handed Him over to them to be crucified.

But as for me, behold, I am in your hands; do with me as is good and right in your sight.

For this very night an angel of the God to whom I belong, whom I also serve, came to me,saying,‘ Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has graciously granted you all those who are sailing with you.’
