Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast[ him] into the den of lions.[ Now] the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

王遂命人以但以理攜至、投之獅穴、告但以理曰、爾所恆事之天主、必必或作願其救爾、

So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel,“ May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I[ will be] with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

When thou passest through the waters, I[ will be] with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

[ Then] Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed[ be] the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

And I[ am] this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah[ be] too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.

If it be[ so], our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver[ us] out of thine hand, O king.

And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel:[ and] the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

[ It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.[ It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made;[ well]: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who[ is] that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix’ room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.

And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but[ that] rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed[ his] hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye[ to it].Then answered all the people, and said, His blood[ be] on us, and on our children.Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered[ him] to be crucified.

Then Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he[ is] in your hand: for the king[ is] not[ he that] can do[ any] thing against you.

And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.And the king was exceeding sorry;[ yet] for his oath’s sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.

But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist’s head in a charger.And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded[ it] to be given[ her].And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.And[ so] Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged[ him], to be crucified.

All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!But they cried out, Away with[ him], away with[ him], crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led[ him] away.

As for me, behold, I[ am] in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you.

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.
