So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel,“ May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”

王遂命人以但以理攜至、投之獅穴、告但以理曰、爾所恆事之天主、必必或作願其救爾、

So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel,“ May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”

So at last the king gave orders for Daniel to be arrested and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to him,“ May your God, whom you serve so faithfully, rescue you.”

The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord, their refuge in a time of distress.The Lord helps and delivers them; He will deliver them from the wicked and will save them because they take refuge in Him.

He will rescue you from six calamities; no harm will touch you in seven.

Because he is lovingly devoted to Me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows My name.When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor.I will satisfy him with a long life and show him My salvation.

I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you.

Nebuchadnezzar exclaimed,“ Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent His angel and rescued His servants who trusted in Him. They violated the king’s command and risked their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.

As for me, even though I am the anointed king, I have little power today. These men, the sons of Zeruiah, are too fierce for me. May the Lord repay the evildoer according to his evil!”

If the God we serve exists, then He can rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and He can rescue us from the power of you, the king.

When he reached the den, he cried out in anguish to Daniel.“ Daniel, servant of the living God,” the king said,“ has your God whom you serve continually been able to rescue you from the lions?”

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in nobles.

The fear of man is a snare, but the one who trusts in the Lord is protected.

If then I am doing wrong, or have done anything deserving of death, I do not refuse to die, but if there is nothing to what these men accuse me of, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar!”

Now if you’re ready, when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, drum, and every kind of music, fall down and worship the statue I made. But if you don’t worship it, you will immediately be thrown into a furnace of blazing fire— and who is the god who can rescue you from my power?”

After two years had passed, Felix received a successor, Porcius Festus, and because he wished to do a favor for the Jews, Felix left Paul in prison.

Then he said,“ Why? What has He done wrong?” But they kept shouting,“ Crucify Him!” all the more.When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that a riot was starting instead, he took some water, washed his hands in front of the crowd, and said,“ I am innocent of this man’s blood. See to it yourselves!”All the people answered,“ His blood be on us and on our children!”Then he released Barabbas to them. But after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

King Zedekiah said,“ Here he is; he’s in your hands since the king can’t do anything against you.”

Immediately she hurried to the king and said,“ I want you to give me John the Baptist’s head on a platter— right now!”Though the king was deeply distressed, because of his oaths and the guests he did not want to refuse her.The king immediately sent for an executioner and commanded him to bring John’s head. So he went and beheaded him in prison,brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl. Then the girl gave it to her mother.

Then Festus, wanting to do a favor for the Jews, replied to Paul,“ Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem, there to be tried before me on these charges?”

For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval.

And prompted by her mother, she answered,“ Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a platter!”Although the king regretted it, he commanded that it be granted because of his oaths and his guests.So he sent orders and had John beheaded in the prison.

Then Pilate said to them,“ Why? What has He done wrong?” But they shouted,“ Crucify Him!” all the more.Then, willing to gratify the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. And after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

All the administrators of the kingdom, the prefects, satraps, advisers, and governors have agreed that the king should establish an ordinance and enforce an edict that for 30 days, anyone who petitions any god or man except you, the king, will be thrown into the lions’ den.

From that moment Pilate made every effort to release Him. But the Jews shouted,“ If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend. Anyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar!”When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus outside. He sat down on the judge’s bench in a place called the Stone Pavement( but in Hebrew Gabbatha).It was the preparation day for the Passover, and it was about six in the morning. Then he told the Jews,“ Here is your king!”But they shouted,“ Take Him away! Take Him away! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them,“ Should I crucify your king?”“ We have no king but Caesar!” the chief priests answered.So then, because of them, he handed Him over to be crucified. Therefore they took Jesus away.

As for me, here I am in your hands; do to me what you think is good and right.

For this night an angel of the God I belong to and serve stood by me,and said,‘ Don’t be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. And, look! God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you.’
