Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice.

But Peter and the apostles replied,“ We must obey God rather than any human authority.

Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker,

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Never stop praying.Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.

But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said,“ Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up!

I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.

Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.

“ If your people go out where you send them to fight their enemies, and if they pray to the Lord by turning toward this city you have chosen and toward this Temple I have built to honor your name,

Then they told the king,“ That man Daniel, one of the captives from Judah, is ignoring you and your law. He still prays to his God three times a day.”

Then I said,‘ O Lord, you have driven me from your presence. Yet I will look once more toward your holy Temple.’

When Solomon finished making these prayers and petitions to the Lord, he stood up in front of the altar of the Lord, where he had been kneeling with his hands raised toward heaven.

The next day as Cornelius’s messengers were nearing the town, Peter went up on the flat roof to pray. It was about noon,

If they turn to you with their whole heart and soul in the land of their enemies and pray toward the land you gave to their ancestors— toward this city you have chosen, and toward this Temple I have built to honor your name—then hear their prayers and their petition from heaven where you live, and uphold their cause.Forgive your people who have sinned against you. Forgive all the offenses they have committed against you. Make their captors merciful to them,

and if your people Israel pray about their troubles, raising their hands toward this Temple,

Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.

And because of my imprisonment, most of the believers here have gained confidence and boldly speak God’s message without fear.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service.

Now Solomon had made a bronze platform 7 1/2 feet long, 7 1/2 feet wide, and 4 1/2 feet high and had placed it at the center of the Temple’s outer courtyard. He stood on the platform, and then he knelt in front of the entire community of Israel and lifted his hands toward heaven.

But to keep them from spreading their propaganda any further, we must warn them not to speak to anyone in Jesus’ name again.”So they called the apostles back in and commanded them never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus.But Peter and John replied,“ Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him?

At the time of the sacrifice, I stood up from where I had sat in mourning with my clothes torn. I fell to my knees and lifted my hands to the Lord my God.

When he had finished speaking, he knelt and prayed with them.

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,

But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus— the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly.

And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.

He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,

He fell to his knees, shouting,“ Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.

“ I know that you live in the city where Satan has his throne, yet you have remained loyal to me. You refused to deny me even when Antipas, my faithful witness, was martyred among you there in Satan’s city.

These people are not drunk, as some of you are assuming. Nine o’clock in the morning is much too early for that.

But I replied,“ Should someone in my position run from danger? Should someone in my position enter the Temple to save his life? No, I won’t do it!”

“ Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!”

On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place.Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.

The others accepted his advice. They called in the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go.The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus.And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message:“ Jesus is the Messiah.”

For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die.

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

“ Dear friends, don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot do any more to you after that.But I’ll tell you whom to fear. Fear God, who has the power to kill you and then throw you into hell. Yes, he’s the one to fear.“ What is the price of five sparrows— two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them.And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.“ I tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels.But anyone who denies me here on earth will be denied before God’s angels.

“ If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else— your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters— yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.

“ Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.What is the price of two sparrows— one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.“ Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.

I trust in the Lord for protection. So why do you say to me,“ Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety!The wicked are stringing their bows and fitting their arrows on the bowstrings. They shoot from the shadows at those whose hearts are right.

When we returned to the ship at the end of the week, the entire congregation, including women and children, left the city and came down to the shore with us. There we knelt, prayed,

May you hear the humble and earnest requests from me and your people Israel when we pray toward this place. Yes, hear us from heaven where you live, and when you hear, forgive.
