这话在王口中尚未说完，有声音从天降下，说：“尼布甲尼撒王啊，有话对你说，你的国位离开你了。

恶人夸胜是暂时的，不敬虔人的喜乐不过转眼之间吗？

他们贪而无厌，食物还在他们口中的时候，神的怒气就向他们上腾，杀了他们内中的肥壮人，打倒以色列的少年人。

于是王的一切哲士都进来，却不能读那文字，也不能把讲解告诉王。

因此从神那里显出指头来写这文字。“所写的文字是：‘弥尼，弥尼，提客勒，乌法珥新。’讲解是这样：弥尼，就是神已经数算你国的年日到此完毕。提客勒，就是你被称在天平里，显出你的亏欠。毗勒斯，就是你的国分裂，归与玛代人和波斯人。”

我又看见死了的人，无论大小，都站在宝座前。案卷展开了，并且另有一卷展开，就是生命册。死了的人都凭着这些案卷所记载的，照他们所行的受审判。于是海交出其中的死人；死亡和阴间也交出其中的死人；他们都照各人所行的受审判。死亡和阴间也被扔在火湖里；这火湖就是第二次的死。若有人名字没记在生命册上，他就被扔在火湖里。

现在哲士和用法术的都领到我面前，为叫他们读这文字，把讲解告诉我，无奈他们都不能把讲解说出来。

人屡次受责罚，仍然硬着颈项；他必顷刻败坏，无法可治。

又涂抹了在律例上所写、攻击我们、有碍于我们的字据，把它撤去，钉在十字架上。

当时这话就应验在尼布甲尼撒的身上，他被赶出离开世人，吃草如牛，身被天露滴湿，头发长长，好像鹰毛；指甲长长，如同鸟爪。

因为你们自己明明晓得，主的日子来到，好像夜间的贼一样。人正说“平安稳妥”的时候，灾祸忽然临到他们，如同产难临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝不能逃脱。

然后要对我的灵魂说：灵魂哪，你有许多财物积存，可作多年的费用，只管安安逸逸地吃喝快乐吧！’神却对他说：‘无知的人哪，今夜必要你的灵魂；你所预备的要归谁呢？’
