这话在王的口中还没有说完，就有声音从天上传下来，说：“尼布甲尼撒王啊！有话对你说：你的王权被褫夺了。

恶人的欢呼并不长久，不敬虔者的快乐，不过是暂时的吗？

他们还没有因所愿的满足，食物仍在他们口中的时候，神的怒气就向他们发作，杀了他们中间最肥壮的人，击倒了以色列的年轻人。

于是王所有的智慧人都进来，却不能读那文字，也不能把意思向王说明。

因此，有手从神那里伸出来，写了这文字。“所写的文字是：‘弥尼，弥尼，提客勒，乌法珥新。’这文字的意思是这样：‘弥尼’就是神已数算了你国度的年日，使国终止；‘提客勒’就是你被称在天平上，显出你的缺欠；‘毗勒斯’（“毗勒斯”即“乌法珥新”的单数式）就是你的国要分裂，归给玛代人和波斯人。”

我又看见死了的人，无论大小，都站在宝座前。案卷都展开了，还有另一卷，就是生命册，也展开了。死了的人都凭着这些案卷所记载的，照着他们所行的受审判。于是海把其中的死人交出来，死亡和阴间也把其中的死人交出来，他们都照着各人所行的受审判。死亡和阴间也被抛在火湖里。这火湖就是第二次的死。凡是名字没有记在生命册上的，他就被抛在火湖里。

现在智慧人和用法术的都被带到我面前了，我要他们读这文字，把文字的意思向我说明，可是他们都不能解释这文字的意思。

人屡次受责备，仍然硬着颈项，他必突然毁灭，无法挽救。

涂抹了那写在规条上反对我们、与我们为敌的字句，并且把这字句从我们中间拿去，钉在十字架上。

这话立刻就应验在尼布甲尼撒身上；他被赶逐，离开人群，像牛一样吃草，身体被天露滴湿，直到他的头发长得像鹰毛，指甲像鸟爪。

因为你们自己清楚知道，主的日子来到，就像夜间的贼来到一样。人正在说平安稳妥的时候，毁灭性的灾祸就突然临到他们，好像生产的痛苦临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝不能逃脱。

然后，我要对我的灵魂说：灵魂啊，你拥有许多好东西，足够多年享用，只管安安逸逸地吃喝快乐吧！’神却对他说：‘无知的人哪，今天晚上，你的灵魂必被取去，你所预备的要归给谁呢？’
