爾伯沙撒乃先王之孫、雖知此事、不卑以自牧、

伯沙撒歟、爾乃其子、子或作孫雖知此事、猶不自卑、

“ But you, Belshazzar, his son, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this.

“ But you knew all that, Belshazzar. After all, you are Nebuchadnezzar’s son. In spite of that, you are still proud.

And you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this,

“ You are his successor, O Belshazzar, and you knew all this, yet you have not humbled yourself.

“ But you his successor, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, even though you knew all this.

Yet you, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, even though you knew all this,

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thy heart, though thou knewest all this,

“ You, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this,

He did not humble himself before the LORD as his father Manasseh had done. Amon was guilty of great sin.

So Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh and told him,“ Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews:‘ How long do you refuse to humble yourself before me? Release my people so that they may serve me!

He did evil in the sight of the LORD his God. He did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, the LORD’s spokesman.

In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.And God will exalt you in due time, if you humble yourselves under his mighty hand

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says,“ God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”

If the wicked are shown mercy, they do not learn about justice. Even in a land where right is rewarded, they act unjustly; they do not see the LORD’s majesty revealed.

If you understand these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

I will speak about your regulations before kings and not be ashamed.

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, replied,“ Rulers of the people and elders,if we are being examined today for a good deed done to a sick man– by what means this man was healed–let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, this man stands before you healthy.This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, that has become the cornerstone.And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among people by which we must be saved.”When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and discovered that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and recognized these men had been with Jesus.

But Peter and the apostles replied,“ We must obey God rather than people.The God of our forefathers raised up Jesus, whom you seized and killed by hanging him on a tree.God exalted him to his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.And we are witnesses of these events, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.”Now when they heard this, they became furious and wanted to execute them.

As for you, O king, the most high God bestowed on your father Nebuchadnezzar a kingdom, greatness, honor, and majesty.

That servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or do what his master asked will receive a severe beating.

For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe. Although you saw this, you did not later change your minds and believe him.

because John had repeatedly told him,“ It is not lawful for you to have her.”

So whoever knows what is good to do and does not do it is guilty of sin.
