“ But you, Belshazzar, his son, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this.

“ But you knew all that, Belshazzar. After all, you are Nebuchadnezzar’s son. In spite of that, you are still proud.

And you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this,

“ You are his successor, O Belshazzar, and you knew all this, yet you have not humbled yourself.

But unlike his father Manasseh, he did not humble himself before the Lord; Amon increased his guilt. (niv)

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him,“ This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says:‘ How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me. (niv)

He did evil in the eyes of the Lord his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke the word of the Lord. (niv)

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,“ God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. (niv)

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:“ God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (niv)

But when grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and do not regard the majesty of the Lord. (niv)

Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. (niv)

I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, (niv)

Peter and the other apostles replied:“ We must obey God rather than human beings!The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead— whom you killed by hanging him on a cross.God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins.We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”When they heard this, they were furious and wanted to put them to death. “ The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. (niv)

For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him. (niv)

for John had been saying to him:“ It is not lawful for you to have her.” (niv)

If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them. (niv)
