你儘管堅決進行你的符咒吧！進行你幼年所勞碌而行的，進行你許多邪術吧！或者能有用處！或者可以使人戰抖呀！

王對他們說：『我作了一個夢，心裏煩亂不安，要知道這夢是甚麼意思。』迦勒底博學的人就用亞蘭語對王說：『願王萬歲！請將那夢告訴僕人，僕人就可以把解析講明白。』王回答迦勒底博學的人說：『這事我已決定；你們若不將夢和夢的解析告訴我，就必須被凌遲，你們的房屋必須被拆毁。你們若將夢和夢的解析講明白，就可以從我獲得贈品、賞賜、和大尊榮；現在你們將夢和夢的解析講明白吧。』他們第二次對王說：『請王將夢告訴僕人，僕人就可以將夢的解析講明白。』王回答說：『我準知道你們是企圖爭取時間，因為你們看出這事我已決定：你們若不將夢告訴我，只有一項判決令來處置你們：你們是同謀拿謊言爛語來在我面前胡說，要等候時勢改變的。現在快將夢告訴我吧，讓我知道你們能將夢的解析向我講明白。』迦勒底博學的人在王面前回答說：『世界上沒有人能將王所問的事說出來的，因為沒有王、多麼大、多麼有權力、曾經向任何學術士、或用法術的、或迦勒底博學的人、問過這樣事的。王所問的事很難答；除了不居於血肉之軀的神明、沒有別的能在王面前說出來的。』

因為永恆主將沉睡之靈傾注於你們；使你們的眼緊合着，使你們的頭蒙蓋着！這一切異象在你們看就如封住的書卷的話。人將這卷書交給識字的，說：『請念吧！』他說：『我不能念，因為是封住着。』人又將這卷書交給不識字的，說：『請念吧！』他說：『我不識字。』
