Finally, Daniel came into my presence and I told him the dream.( He is called Belteshazzar, after the name of my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is in him.)

At last Daniel came in before me— he who was named Belteshazzar after the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods— and I told him the dream, saying,

Later Daniel entered( whose name is Belteshazzar after the name of my god, and in whom there is a spirit of the holy gods). I recounted the dream for him as well,

But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods. I told the dream before him, saying,

The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego. (niv)

“ This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, had. Now, Belteshazzar, tell me what it means, for none of the wise men in my kingdom can interpret it for me. But you can, because the spirit of the holy gods is in you.” (niv)

I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom. (niv)

I said,“ Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no mystery is too difficult for you. Here is my dream; interpret it for me. (niv)

There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the time of your father he was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom like that of the gods. Your father, King Nebuchadnezzar, appointed him chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners.He did this because Daniel, whom the king called Belteshazzar, was found to have a keen mind and knowledge and understanding, and also the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles and solve difficult problems. Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means.” (niv)

What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among humans.” (niv)

Then his people recalled the days of old, the days of Moses and his people— where is he who brought them through the sea, with the shepherd of his flock? Where is he who set his Holy Spirit among them, (niv)

“ Announce and proclaim among the nations, lift up a banner and proclaim it; keep nothing back, but say,‘ Babylon will be captured; Bel will be put to shame, Marduk filled with terror. Her images will be put to shame and her idols filled with terror.’ (niv)

Bel bows down, Nebo stoops low; their idols are borne by beasts of burden. The images that are carried about are burdensome, a burden for the weary. (niv)

I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them. They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone.“ Tell the people:‘ Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. The Lord heard you when you wailed,“ If only we had meat to eat! We were better off in Egypt!” Now the Lord will give you meat, and you will eat it.You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days,but for a whole month— until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it— because you have rejected the Lord, who is among you, and have wailed before him, saying,“ Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’”But Moses said,“ Here I am among six hundred thousand men on foot, and you say,‘ I will give them meat to eat for a whole month!’Would they have enough if flocks and herds were slaughtered for them? Would they have enough if all the fish in the sea were caught for them?”The Lord answered Moses,“ Is the Lord’s arm too short? Now you will see whether or not what I say will come true for you.”So Moses went out and told the people what the Lord had said. He brought together seventy of their elders and had them stand around the tent.Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took some of the power of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied— but did not do so again.However, two men, whose names were Eldad and Medad, had remained in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but did not go out to the tent. Yet the Spirit also rested on them, and they prophesied in the camp.A young man ran and told Moses,“ Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses’ aide since youth, spoke up and said,“ Moses, my lord, stop them!”But Moses replied,“ Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!”Then Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp. (niv)
